A few non-football related irritations have made it into the thread on the main forum. I thought I would start a non-football one on here. Please try not to just load it with politicians as we have plenty of threads about that.
I'll start - ironing clothes. Imagine someone coming up with that now.
I've created a scaldingly hot lump of compact metal. It should be used on a thin, elevated platform set a little higher than a toddler's head. The device is plugged into the wall, so it can be easily dragged off the platform by lapses of attention or passing children. It's quite easy to leave the device switched on, and doing so will burn stuff and cause fires.
All that just to get creases out of clothes, which can also be achieved by just wearing them for a bit. Talk about risk vs reward!

People (mainly couples) who take over the whole pavement, so you have to quickly go on the road to get past them. Also don’t like it when somebody’s walking on the right hand side of the Greenway (cycle path) whenever I go down there on my bike.

Hoole Bridge with its narrow pavement is very dangerous and this happens so often it is silly. Been people run over before because of this

People (mainly couples) who take over the whole pavement, so you have to quickly go on the road to get past them. Also don’t like it when somebody’s walking on the right hand side of the Greenway (cycle path) whenever I go down there on my bike. You are very correct to highlight the ignorance of people who think it acceptable that you should put your life in danger by stepping onto the road as they don't have the manners to adopt a single file policy to allow you to pass. It annoys me greatly. With regard to the cycle path, I am a keen cyclist circa 5000 miles a year, and the one place I won't cycle is the Greenway. When you throw together family walks at four abreast, loose dogs, people continually staring at their phones and people wearing buds who can't hear an audible warning when passing it makes for a thoroughly unenjoyable place to ride. Added to that we have recently had motorbikes on the Blacon to Queensferry stretch and the de-restricted throttle controlled fat bike that buzzes past you at 40 mph on his "supply trips". The only advantage I can see of the Greenway is if you cycle past the old Blacon Station bit you usually get a "free hit of cannabis"

Sprouts. Nobody likes them. People just pretend they do to be controversial.
Cranberry sauce. Might as well put jam on your roast.

People pretending they’re going to stay off the ale because it’s New Year And all this dry January rubbish what's the point Agree. Waste of time, achieves nothing other than hurting the already struggling pub industry, and will only make you miserable. How many people are going to sanctimoniously tell you they haven't touched a drop of alcohol all month, then get smashed on the first weekend of February? That's far worse for your body than just a month of moderate drinking. All these month-long abstinence fads are stupid. Take No-Mow May, which naturalists are now basically trying to get rid of because everyone got their mowers out on June 1 and immediately destroyed the habitats they had been creating, killing hedgehogs and other wildlife in the process. By all means try and cut down on drinking if you want to, but set yourself realistic, incremental changes you can stick to. Don't go from one extreme to the other

As I have just posted on the other forum the Honours list a totally outdated thing they just give them to anyone Agree, and what annoys me more than people of ill repute receiving honours is decent, respectable people accepting them. I've much more respect for people like the late Benjamin Zephaniah who said that if anyone had actually read his stuff, they would never have offered him an OBE. That's what's needed to bin it. Grown adults shouldn't need merit badges.
