Wants to come back He regrets his decision to leave and would be happy to be a number 2 to Alex Lynch. He was having personal problems in his last season and a bit with us which he's put behind him now, it says. He was good in his first season with us, and if he's cheap it might not be a bad option. Can't help feeling we can do a bit better with the back up though...

Have to agree,we must not take a backward step after being so positive in our new signings.worsnop is in the past and must stay there.

It reads a bit like an ex who is desperately trying to get back with you, saying she's changed and things will be different. Joking aside, I liked his character and his commitment was never in doubt, if he had some personal stuff going on then I can understand why his performances dipped. I wouldn't bring him back as a number 1 but in terms of cover for Lynch then if he's costing very little then I'd welcome him back. We've got a young team and a strong experienced guy like him could be useful in the dressing room and a good influence on Lynch.

He's obviously heard how we tend to sign players who have played for us previously.

I still think a club operating with a squad as small as ours shouldn't really bother with a second choice keeper. I can't remember us having to substitute our keeper since Danby replaced Chapman against Halifax, and that was over three years ago. I know it could happen at any time, and if it does then a keeper on the bench is a godsend, but it's one game out of 46 and you can soon sort out an emergency loan in time for the next game if need be.
If we are to have a second keeper, it would probably be best to have an experienced one who can double up as a coach and help Lynch develop, and also fill in if there's an emergency. Jon would probably be a suitable choice in that regard.

I thought emergency loans are granted based on what has happened and if a club selects to only sign one keeper, for me they wouldn't be granted permission as it would be a club fault. Could be wrong? I understand in regards to having one on the bench but to not have a second keeper might put us in a bit ob bother if Lynch got injured for months or sent off! ''Until now, emergency loans had allowed clubs in the Football and National Leagues to sign players on deals ranging between 28 and 93 days in two periods outside of the regular transfer windows. The new proposal, however, means clubs are no longer permitted to do so, severing what has rapidly become a vital tool for clubs and players up and down the country.'' - Did this not come into play?

I thought the transfer window didn't apply at all at our level anymore?

I would like to see him return as a back-up. He knows the club well and would be a good role model for Alex Lynch, along with his experience.

He would know he can perform terribly and keep his place. We'd then be in a position mid-season looking for a decent keeper when they've all been snapped up.

I think any keeper worth his salt will know that he can soon be replaced by a loanee from elsewhere if he doesn't perform. Ideally, yes a backup keeper is great, but I'm just being realistic about our limited resources, and asking whether it's a good use of them to pay a wage to a second choice keeper just in case Lynch gets injured, sent off or plays badly. I feel the same way about us employing a club scout. Very nice if we can afford to, but am I convinced that it's the best use of a wage on such a tight ship? Not really.

I would be happy to see him back, playing nearly a full FA cup game against Bradford with a broken cheekbone (and with a great performance too) is reason enough.

Well he's not the worst we've ever had - that dishonour goes to John Danby - but I wouldn't like to see him back. We should try another young League lad on loan a la Roberts.

If we do have the cash for a second keeper,I would hope we can get someone who can collect crosses and is at least as good as Lynch.

Wow - is he still in football? I thought he was sited on an offshore wind farm, flapping at crosses far more efficiently than any wind turbine.

Nowhere near good enough IMO. According to Worsnop ''i am good enough to get into any national league team''. There lies the problem. He still won't accept his obvious limmitations, hates criticism, and whatever he says...he is nowhere near good enough for the national league. We can do much better than him

No thanks. He was a liability the last season he was with us. Let's move forwards, not backwards.

I will always remember Worsnop for his errors (FGR at home, Borhamwood at home to name a few) more than anything else. The club have moved on and have a promising young keeper who will get better with the right coaching and don't need Worsnop. I don't actually think Worsnop is Conf standard. I'd say Conf North/Evo-stick is his standard.
As for the above poster slating Danby that must be a sarcastic comment. He was a really solid keeper who gave everything for the club. Saved us from relegation one season with some class saves and also won two Championships. He deserves better than those throw away comments as mentioned above.

The fact he ended up at Bradford PA and Connahs quay nomads after Steve burr give him the boot said it all for me.
