Impressive win on Tuesday, but we really need to build on that today if we have aspirations of finishing third. I’m hoping we’re beginning to turn a corner with two 2-0 wins in a row, and we have an excellent opportunity to make it three wins in seven days against a struggling side today. Tom Peers and Charlie Caton caused Chorley lots of problems on Tuesday, and if we can keep them two fit for the remainder of the season then I really can’t see why we can’t finish third. Third trip to King’s Lynn for me, and I’m well on my way on the Hipkiss so am expecting us to do the job this afternoon. Another three points would be huge.
Score - King’s Lynn Town 0-2 Chester FC (Caton, Whitehouse).
Attendance - 828 (122 Chester FC).

Sort of game we've struggled in this season. Think we will sneak a win today though. Good luck to everyone doing this long and very boring trip.

Curzon turned these over midweek. No reason why we can’t do the same. Play like we did Tuesday night and we’ll be more than good value for the win. Kings Lynn 0 - 2 Chester. Glendon and Peers. 95 blues

Playing a bottom four team, nailed on loss for us this season. I'm going for a 3-1 defeat to ruin my weekend with a Weeks red card, Peers goal, and the 4th official caught watching 'tractor movies' during the game. On the other hand we might thrash them 4-0 (Caton hatrick). 679 there, of which 120 Blues.

Honestly think this will be a bigger test for us than Tuesday - that was the sort of game in which we were always bound to do well, whereas this is the sort of game in which we usually slip up. I don’t think it’ll be the emphatic win some are predicting, in spite of the two sides’ respective form, but I’ll be at least somewhat optimistic and go for a 2-1 victory thanks to a goal apiece from our deadly duo up top.

Hope Okeke has a good game. Was impressed with him against Bishops.
Hope we can keep the good form going.
1-2. Think Peers and Caton will set each other up.

Wasn’t the most exciting game that. We couldn’t really create a clear cut chance whatsoever. Plenty of times in the first half either Caton or peers would win/lose a header and the ball would drop edge of the box which is where Glendon or weeks should be but they were nowhere to be seen. Second half they started brightly and a slight defensive mishap led to stanway having to make a good save. They grew in confidence after that and we changed the formation when we brung Heywood and Taylor on (Taylor was playing left wing but drifting inside at times) looked a bit strange on first watch. Last 10 mins we had another couple of half chances but nothing more than that. Take the point and move on

An ok result basically. A bit disappointing that we can't win games like this but if we can keep solid on the road and do OK against the teams around us it's fine. Not sure I'd have liked to make that journey for what sounded like a dull 0-0.

Type of game we should be winning if want to be serious contesters Amount 0-0 draws over the years in this league part the reason were still here...
Hopefully beat Banbury saturday.

I think we've got to try not to get too hung up on the idea of games we "should be winning". We're not going to go up automatically, so it's just a case of being solid enough to finish in the playoffs and then beat the teams around us, which we have actually been doing this season. As long as we finish in the playoffs it basically doesn't matter that we can't win at places like King's Lynn.

These are the games that we need to find a way to win, a scrappy 1-0 will do me just fine. Wasn't a particularly good game to be honest but yet another clean sheet & 7 points from a possible 9 with three clean sheets is still very good. Maintain that form & we'll definitely finish in the playoffs. 🙂

Precisely the kind of game we're finding it hard to win this season - when the opponents are largely happy to sit back and defend in a low block, we sometimes don't have the ability to open them up. Whether that needs a winger who can get to the by-line, a carthouse centre forward to win knock downs in the box, or whatever, it seems we struggle, whereas when the game is fairly open we seem to do better.

Dull match.
We had all the ball in the first half but struggled to create anything meaningful. Even second half with a few half chances for both sides later on.
Don't know why he took Okeke off, was the most likely to do something.

Since it's a slow match thread, can I just say a massive thank you and well done to the fans who do this kind of trip again and again, season after season?
I can reel off a list of places I've seen us play to some Premier League fan. "Oh yeah, I've followed Chester everywhere me - Kings Lynn, Blyth, Dover, Carlisle, Exeter etc" and it might sound impressive, but most of them I've only been to once. I'm just a daytripper. I'm massively in awe of the people to repeatedly go to cultural and political backwaters like Boston and King's Lynn, knowing that there's a good chance they'll see a 0-0 or worse, again and again and again.
You ARE the club.

Must be one of the shortest match threads we’ve ever had on here, but the fact we’re still on the first page sums things up because there really isn’t a lot to say. As dull a game as you could imagine, which neither side particularly deserved to win - not our worst performance of the season, but surely our most forgettable. King’s Lynn looked a far cry from the swashbuckling outfit we’re used to seeing - save for the vastly-experienced Coulson, their squad has been totally gutted of quality even since our last meeting in August, and they had very little to offer other than physicality and aimless long balls - but we were barely able to test them and seemed content to play into their hands, either by doing our usual trick of passing it around on the edge of the area until the move inevitably peters out, or by lumping it forward in the hope of forcing an error from defenders against whom our strikers were never going to win many aerial battles. Think of the game at Telford last Boxing Day to give you some kind of idea.
No doubt there’d be more of a meltdown if this result had come a few games earlier, during that mini-barren run, but I imagine most of us would’ve taken four points from these two away games. I also get the impression that there hasn’t been a stronger reaction because we’re all simply so used to us failing to win these sort of fixtures, against opponents happy to sit back and slow the game down, and are beginning to come to an acceptance that it’s something we may never be able to totally remedy. If we make the playoffs then a result like this will pale into insignificance, though by all means it’s not something we can particularly afford to replicate often while our place in the top seven is still far from assured - so let’s hope it’s back to winning ways next weekend against Banbury.

80/90 of us there, I counted 60+ and then couldn't be arsed individually picking through the last group of 20/30 all standing on top of each other to get a correct number.
King's Lynn were happy with the result from the off and were killing time very early on, in fact their keeper came over and told us that as he was taking a goal kick in the first half.
