Crowd has to play a part. We were silent against Southport. (Me included).

Expecting a better game today as South Shields like to play. Not sure a point is a particularly good result for either side, so that should help make it open too.
I have no idea how this will end up. At some point we'll click into gear, the chances will go in and we'll be up and running again. Hopefully starting today. Until then though, I'll be more pessimistic.
Chester 1 - 1 South Shields Whitehouse penalty. Crowd of 2222 with 80 visitors.

I’ll take a tweak in approach and the start of a playoff run in like Kiddy last season:
- play with width - crosses that beat first man - someone in box to be on end of crosses - more forward passes than to side/backwards - switching play between wings in 1 or 2 passes not 4 or 5 ponderous ones - less balls to forwards with back to goal/more diagonal balls behind defenders for forwards to attack - quicker distribution from Stanway when opposition not set up - free kicks played (long or short) into danger zones not 2 yds sideways - Glendon performing the role of captain not just wearing the armband (or give it to someone who can/will) - accepting that draws are no better than losses in our position now - allowing shots from outside the box

Think we’ll win today.
But not before we go behind.
So I’m going 2-1. Unexpected Woodthorpe double.
2112 att.

There's no way they were the second best team last season but they came into form when it mattered. We have to make sure we are the form team during this run in.

I think we probably need minumum of 6 points from the next 3 games and then see where we are. Think we need 2 wins, 2 draws for 70 points or 3 wins to give us 71 points. I think Spennymoor could be the outlier to jump in the top 7as last 10 games seen 8 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat with 8 games still left and not to shabby fixtures. Curzon the main danger points wise but they seem worse than us at not putting the poorer teams away. .

I think we need 10 points to be sure. 3 wins and a draw is doable from the 6 games we have left

Critical game in our bid for the play-offs today. South Shields are breathing down our necks and are just three points behind us, so nothing less than three points matters. The North East side like to play their football, so hopefully this type of game will suit us, as we tend to get wins when the opposition get at us. Hopefully it’ll be like the Scarborough Athletic game, as they were in a similar place to South Shields at the time, but we ripped them apart, in what was probably our last good performance at home. Our atmosphere at the Deva has been pretty dead lately, so we need to change that today, and transform the Deva into what it does best - being a toxic fortress for the away side. I know we haven’t been good enough lately, but our players still put the effort in, so let’s all give them as much support as we can to show how much we want to get in the play-offs. I’m feeling positive, so I’m going to go for a convincing win so we can break our home duck.
Score - Chester FC (Woodthorpe, Tollitt, Glendon) 3-1 South Shields (Blackett).
Attendance - 2,243 (168 South Shields).

And Kieran Burton, looks like a strong bench and both could be game changers if needed later in the game

I’ll choose to recognise this as the ‘legitimate’ match thread, being the older of the two. Hopefully we see some quicker and more attacking football today, resulting in a 2-1 win - Caton to finally break his duck with two goals.

This run of form is disgraceful.
He needs to find a solution quickly. Failure to make the play offs with this squad will be a disaster

I would have taken a "top half" finish at the beginning of the season.

If this was any other manager the knives would have been out weeks ago.

If this was any other manager the knives would have been out weeks ago. Sacking a manager of a team who is just outside the playoffs? Are you mental?
