Yes we all know that but what money does it generate In the sense we can say to players we have this facility, you turn up, train, eat shower and change at, unlike with BJ when they were ringing up Goals locations all over the north west to hire a pitch, I'd say it earns us money in we can lure in a high calibre of player as we have a more professional set up So when are these high calibre players going to turn up not seen them in 2024!

We were all singing their praises in pre season. No one said oh shit, not so and so.
Players pick their clubs on a variety of things: Manager, wages, contract length, facilities and location. If we can offer good facilities and a good contract, we give ourselves a fighting chance of getting better players

Always the same people repeating the same stuff. Why would you bother going I go because i am a fan. Unlike some on here i have a grasp of reality. Year on year we are falling further behind. In 2022/23 there were 21 full time clubs in the National league and there are a growing number in our league too. Some have said recently that we get over 2000 every week which would give us a decent budget, but not really because we are a sort of cooperative living on what we generate from home games, our model is a survival model this does not mean because our crowds are bigger we are better. Consider Bradford City in L2. They average around 18,000 and cannot get near promotion. Our situation is; we are non league and always will be. We have not moved forwards with everyone else, we have stayed static. GIVE UP? NO? accept it for what it is because at best we are a yoyo club who will have good seasons getting into the play offs and shit seasons getting relegated again. So what's the answer? I don't have a clue, but I know we are not going to suddenly sweep through the leagues. Well not upwards anyway! That is the reality, we're at a level where we can be a decent NLN team, or a poor NL team. Cup runs are an important break and give the opportunity for moments of glory. Which is why I am not happy with didn't have a proper crack at the FA Trophy. It's our only chance of ever getting to Wembley and the glory of a cup win, as slim as the chances are.

We aren’t even a decent National league north team. Fact.
What is the answer?

I was reading an article about WXM and their promotion season from the National league. Wrexham’s wage bill stood at £6.9 million for the year ending June 2023. This in non league. How the hell can any club complete with that? I would imagine that the wage bill for this year will be much higher. When they reach their level and have to complete on a level playing field with bigger clubs the bubble will burst. The sad fact for us in my opinion is that if true and the amounts of money washing around in NL/L2 are true then we will never progress any more than we have because there is no way we could ever throw the money that WXM FGR and Chesterfield have done at it.......for anyone interested linkThe money that Chesterfield "threw" at it was at least generated by their own efforts. 7,000+ crowds, increased sponsorship, a cup run and the sale of a player for a 6-figure sum.

the Kirk brothers are worth over a 100 million…so it’s all relevant really..but have been supporting the club since they were small boys so are also emotionally invested too..investment means better players, bigger crowds, higher standard's of football to watch and larger prize money eventually..after all the football league is a pyramid system the whole idea of it is to strive for promotion ..some teams don’t invest, but take great delight in looking at teams that fail or have a large debt..

Should be a wage cap what you can pay a player in every league and zero agent fees allowed then its a more level playing field for teams. Too many loop holes for owners to raise capital to balance the books still, there isn't money to be made in football even the biggest and most successful clubs don't make a profit and have huge debts. Just a ego thing or a toy for most owners of football clubs

You are picking extreme examples. For every Wrexham, or Chesterfield, there is a Halifax, Wealdstone, Maidenhead, Aldershot, Bromley, Kidderminster. Are you seriously saying we shouldn't be trying to emulate these clubs rather than just throwing the towel in and knocking around regional football leagues forever? Forget Wrexham..they got lucky. How the hell did they get lucky? It’s not luck it’s money. I’m not saying we should give up what I’m saying is that we cannot compete against the kind of money that is getting thrown around as for playing in the regional leagues? I reckon this is our level and we cannot compete in NL. Remember last time we tried to compete at NL level? We were 7 days away from folding Wrexham also got lucky because they've got owners that apart from turning the club into a media circus, have left the running of the actual playing dept well alone. Look at the owners of Birmingham as a comparison, came in and sacked a manager who was doing well and had the side top 6, so they could appoint a big name, well known in the states from his time in the MLS. It eneded in disaster with Birmingham now sitting in the bottom 3, with just 1 game to play. That's the kinda move you'd expect from the owners who know nothing about football, but want to make a Hollywood football based series, rather than people who have actually run sports clubs before as in Birmingham's case, so yes I'd say wrexham have got lucky.
