Walsall and Vale will hopefully bring full strength squads with it being quite near the start of the season. Hopefully sensible pricing like last year for the friendlies . . . maybe fiver adults and a quid for kids?

Why have we got a friendly with Vale? After them pulling out last season because they wanted to play United reserves instead I would of told em where to go.

Oh and still no crowd pulling game against one of the big boys. Looks like there's been far too much positive news coming out of the club in the last few weeks for your liking. Trying to bring everyone down again.

Oh and still no crowd pulling game against one of the big boys. I think the days where Premiership teams come to the likes of us are gone. It sounds great to have fixtures with your Everton's and Liverpool's but realistically what you get is a mix of under 18/21's as most of the big boys go on money spinning tours in Asia etc these days. We might get a few fans down for a game against Liverpool's kids but how much use is it? Its certainly not representative of any game we'd get in the Conference. I seem to recall us stonking Liverpool in pre season when we first got back up to the Conference, with the likes of Jason Jarrett etc. I think its much better to get some solid league 1/2 outfits down here to give us a good test, and then the away games at local non-league teams to build good relations whilst still giving us a good test. There's plenty of clubs around who would be willing to play us, without having to beg a Premiership team to send down a development team.

There's plenty of clubs around who would be willing to play us, without having to beg a Premiership team to send down a development team. This is very true. I hate the way all these teams swan over to the other side of the world preseason. I understand why they do it, but they're not getting good tests over there. I'm not saying there aren't good players in Asia, but they don't play football in the same way as us. There's no pace or physicality. They play it like netball. Something you used to get a fair bit was teams agreeing to play each other preseason as part of a deal for signing a player, I wonder if that's worth considering. For example, as part of the San Hughes deal, Leicester might have agreed to send a strong XI here next season. Then again, is it worth it in exchange for a reduced fee or sell-on free? Probably not.

Tranmere managed to get a pre-season friendly against Liverpool last season, where Liverpool played most of the 1st team, just before Liverpool went on their pre-season tour. Liverpool agreed to this, as a thank you for Tranmere letting them use Prenton Park for reserve/youth matches.

nothing to get excited about sadly, would have enjoyed a day out to bala for a saturday friendly I don't understand why their are quite a few empty Saturday slots, with it being unlikely that no more fixtures will be announced. I agree 'Iandychesterfc', I wouldn't mind a Saturday out at Bala or Altrincham. Strange that they are all on a Tuesday.

Wouldn't mind Leicester away with split gate money as a small gesture on their part. Would be brilliant that.

I'm a bit disappointed we aren't playing away at Marine this pre-season. It's a cracking away day and Marine are a lovely Club.
