The Card is available from the Club Shop. Its a great read. If you email shop@chesterfc.com they will sort it for you to collect one from the ticket office. Be mindful that a £5 delivery charge is applied when you purchase online regardless of whether you email and ask to collect at the office or not. I was told I couldn't negate the charge by paying directly at the office (as the shop is only manned during matchdays). So unless you are going down anyway, I'd just request it's delivered to your home address.

I've read it. Has some interesting value as it is obviously Chester FC focused but overall it is pretty poorly written and could have been so much better. Edited for the appalling standard of English with huge apologies all round.

Yeah, right, that will be the same poorly written book that was long listed for the William Hill sports book of the year prize. As I recall it also had accurate spelling and punctuation ..perhaps they're not your thing?

Surprised by some of the comments here. I read it not long after it was published, and thoroughly enjoyed it - very well-written and very funny.

Can't wait to read the great works of bonecrusher. Are you seriously suggesting that to have an opinion on literature you need to be writing books yourself?

I'm saying the bloke put out a decent book which has been well received nationwide by the football community, just wondering when your masterpiece is out

And I'm stating an opinion. Which I'm entitled to. I don't have to publish a book for this. Any form of art or creativity is subjective. Incredibly some of the people who don't like Radiohead have not released their own albums or written a note of music. Some people think the Mona Lisa is shit and they've never painted a picture. It's their opinion. Which part of that do you not understand?
Seriously this forum...

I think the point being made was that you described it as poorly written, but your very short post contained three spelling and punctuation mistakes.

For what it's worth, I'm not arsed about any criticism of The Card. After near universal acclaim, it's refreshing to hear a minority view. What I find harder to understand is Chester fans who haven't even read it. Award-nominated or not, if somebody released a book about Chester FC, I would be all over it like a soup sandwich. It's been available for almost six years. It's in the club shop for a tenner (half of which they keep), and on Kindle for the price of a pint of fizzy piss and a packet of fancy crisps. The paperback is currently on sale from the publisher for a mere £7.99, with the inferior sequel, Wall Of Sport, a staggeringly cheap £3.00. Probably save on postage if you get both. www.ockleybooks.co.uk/shop/the-cardwww.ockleybooks.co.uk/shop/wall-of-sport-by-steve-hillBy the time you've read these, there might even be another one...

I really enjoyed it. Who cares if it isn't 100% polished?
in fact, one thing that bugs me when reading sporting autobiographies is when they are super sanitised. I want to feel as though the player himself is talking to me, not ultra polished, making it abundantly clear that it's been ghost-written.

Actually I thought that it was brilliant, following Chester FC has been a journey of ups and mainly downs and the book depicts the journey brilliantly - I loved it having experienced all those situations and emotions
