Now most of the recruitment is done - who do you think should be captain next season?
I’ve previously posted on how ineffectual Glendon was and how I thought it should have been Roberts for the last 2 or 3 seasons. It looks like Kev won’t always be a regular starter next season so that rules him out.
From what I’ve seen, Rawlinson is probably the best bet - what do you think?

Love Glendon but he's no captain. Rawlinson would be my choice. Natural leader & knows exactly what it takes to be a winner. Call me old fashioned but in my opinion the captain should always be a defender.

Actually think it could help Glendon not having the weight of the armband. Similar to when Ten Haag took it off Maguire at United, it looks bad initially but after the dust settles you could see Maguire improved on the pitch, took a lot of pressure off him.
Similar to Glendon, I don't think he enjoys having to be seen to be more vocal because he's captain rather than just focusing on his game.
Not sure Cal would want to do that to Glendon but Rawlinson looks a natural leader to me

Might be poor man management for Cal to strip Glendon of the captaincy. Also he may be more influential in the dressing room than what meets the eye - I think we all expect a captain to be a certain way, but just because he may not appear the loudest it doesn't mean he's not massively respected.

Some clubs the players vote on it, some the manager picks it. What he says and does on the training pitch, on team nights out and in the dressing room is where a club captain earns his pay

I'm not convinced it's that important. Loud players will still be loud and quiet players will be quiet.
Captaincy seems more like it's to get the best out of an individual. The likes of Beckham and Rooney never exactly seemed like great captains to me, but they were prone to petulant behaviour so the armband probably just encouraged them to be more professional.

It’s clear as day glendon ain’t a leader though so why would we put the pressure on a role he isn’t up for ? Be daft not to give it to Connell considering the amount of titles/ promotions he’s won over Glendon |
