'The wife of a Conservative councillor has been arrested after she called for hotels with asylum seekers to be set on fire. In a now deleted post on her X account, Lucy Connolly, who’s from Northampton, wrote: “Mass deportation now, set fire to all the f****** hotels full of the b******* for all I care... If that makes me racist, so be it.”The childminder has since apologised, and said she had acted on “false and malicious” information. Northamptonshire Police said a 41-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred and remains in custody. 'Mrs Connolly is married to Tory councillor Raymond Connolly, who is vice chair of the committee on adult social care at West Northamptonshire Council. He told the BBC his wife made one “stupid, spur of the moment tweet out of frustration and quickly deleted it”. “She’s a good person and she’s not racist," he said. "She’s got Somalian and Bangladeshi kids she looks after and she loves them like they’re her own”People with views like that shouldn't be looking after anyone's kids. Doesn't matter if she deleted it seconds later. She sat there and typed it and clearly its an insight into her true sentiments. That's the most chilling part of it, that she holds those views yet has a position of responsibility over children on a daily basis. You don't sit down and type out a tweet like that by accident, especially as she'd have understood the political repercussions for her husband....it's just plain racism.

A casual look on Twitter shows what a nasty piece of work she is. Equating asylum seekers with rapists, calling people "pikeys", saying there's "fuck all wrong" with people claiming disability benefits. This isn't out of character, this is the logical conclusion of getting away with bigotry for too long. And if this Tory councillor chooses to marry and stay married to this sort of sewage merchant, he has to except the consequences of his complicity.

They walk amongst us -
'A Chester man and woman have been arrested for trying to incite a hate protest at a Cheshire hotel which they claimed was home to asylum seekers. Officers from Cheshire Police confirmed they have arrested two people on suspicion of racially aggravated harassment with intent to cause fear and violence.
On Sunday, August 4, officers received several reports from concerned members of the public in relation to a Snapchat post encouraging members of the public to attend a protest at a hotel in Cheshire. The post contained misleading information stating that the hotel was home to a number of asylum seekers. Thankfully, the post did not result in any disorder.
The pair have since been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries'.
'A man from Chester has been charged with multiple offences following two incidents at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Steven Hall was arrested on Tuesday, August 6 following two incidents at the hospital which occurred that day and on July 31.
The 60-year-old was subsequently charged with racially aggravated harassment, use of threatening and insulting language with intent to cause alarm and distress and causing a nuisance at an NHS premises.

Following enquiries, a 26-year-old local man was quickly identified and arrested on suspicion of religiously aggravated harassment with intent to cause alarm and distress.
The man has since been released on bail until 30 August pending further enquiries'.
'A woman has been arrested after a "hate-related" message was posted on a community Facebook group. The 53-year-old from Alsager, Cheshire, was arrested on suspicion of hate-related communications after a complaint was made to Cheshire Police, the force said. It said it was made aware of a message inciting hatred, which was posted on a community group in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire, at about 14:00 BST on Monday.
The woman is currently being held in custody, Cheshire Police added'.
Liverpool riot/disorder
'Jimmy Bailey, of Station Avenue in Little Sutton, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, pleaded not guilty to violent disorder'.
Bristol riot/disorder
'Adrian Croft, 45, of Holywell, Flintshire, has been charged with a Section 4 public order offence and possession of a Class A drug (cocaine) in relation to the disorder in Bristol'.
Hartlepool riot/disorder
'Steven Mailen, 54, of Elliott Street, Hartlepool, and Ryan Sheers, 28, of Powlett Street, each admitted a single charge of violent disorder during a series of hearings for seven defendants at Teesside Magistrates’ Court.
Mailen was “constantly in the face of officers” and was gesticulating towards them, shouting, until he was struck on the leg by an officer’s extendable baton.
His partner Sheers, who wept during the hearing, was then bitten on the hip by a police dog, the court heard'.
Liverpool riot/disorder
'Two brothers appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court accused of crimes relating to a library which was set on fire during the riots.
28-year-old Adam Wharton appeared first, admitting burglary with intent to steal from the Spellow Lane Library Hub, which suffered severe damage to the ground floor due to the fire.
The library was opened last year to provide support for one of the most deprived communities in the country.
Wharton, who has 16 previous convictions for 26 offences, including robbery and burglary, stood in the dock at Liverpool Magistrates' Court wearing a grey, prison-issue tracksuit. As he left the dock, Wharton said: "Nice one, shitty arse judge man."
His younger brother Ellis Wharton, 22, admitted trying to steal a computer screen from the library - but denied assaulting a police officer'.
Manchester
'A rioter who attacked a Black man during far-right disorder in Manchester cried in court as he admitted carrying out the attack. Liam Ryan, 28, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, wept as he entered a guilty plea following disturbances in Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre on Saturday. He was remanded into custody and is expected to be sentenced next week'.
Middlesborough
'A company director sobbed in court on Tuesday, dabbing his eyes with a handkerchief, as he was told he would be remanded in custody for his alleged part in rioting in Middlesbrough on Sunday.
Joe MacKenzie, 28, is accused of being among a main body of around 20 men wearing balaclavas and face coverings who clashed with the police during violent disorder in the city'.
Rotherham
'Liam Grey, a 20-year-old from Mexborough, took a four-mile journey to the hotel. Arriving in the dock, he blows a kiss towards two women sitting in the public gallery while prosecutor Mark Hughes outlines the case against him. He is alleged to have tried to take a riot shield from an officer as he pushed against the police line.
Mr Grey pleads not guilty and is remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 20 August. Head to the floor, he is led away by the dock officers. Blowing another kiss to the two women as he goes, he begins to cry'.
Sheffield 'A Sheffield man sobbed in court as he was refused bail after being charged in relation to the riots in South Yorkshire.
Curtis Coulson, 30, was the first person to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court following the disorder over the weekend. He wiped away tears with a tissue as he sat in the glass-fronted dock and denied affray'.
Non riot related
'A Hull woman has been sentenced to prison and given a Criminal Behaviour Order forbidding her from 'defecating in a public place' among other restrictions.
Brace Hull, 49, has been imprisoned for 46 weeks and also received a three-year order. If she violates the order after being released from jail, she could be fined or face additional imprisonment'.

Government need to be condemning both sides more than anything some the actions from so called ‘Counter Protesters’ has been swept under the carpet by Government and Police.
Not defending any the dickheads who took it far and smashed up their own towns etc as I don’t personally see point in all that and they’ll get what’s coming to them aswell.
But they need to be condemning the counter protesters that are happily roaming the streets with machetes and swords. Spreading fake rumours about EDL marches in areas everyone knows was never gonna happen spread by Far Left extremists The whole reason everyone’s in uproar as it is was due to 3 innocent girls being stabbed and yet the government haven’t said a word on how they’re planning to tackle knife crime. It’s a serious problem in this country and is massive issue in certain community’s.
Police have pretty much admitted to losing control in areas like Birmingham admitting they wasn’t present as they spoke to ‘community leaders’ and were assured it would be peaceful and no violence.
The media in this to blame for allot of this too there’s genuine people with concerns about their country who wasn’t violent or spreading hate being named and shamed online branded as far right so they’re silenced.
Can’t condem one side for being extreme and ignore the other half who are just as violent

Can’t condem one side for being extreme and ignore the other half who are just as violent I know I won't change any minds so I'm not looking for a argument. So I just want to say that this is not a case of both sides. The riots and fear we've seen in last few days have been organised by full on racist nationalists. These racist nationalists want people killed (setting fire to hostels with kids inside) or removed from this country (a country made up of thousands of years of migration). Their targets are either born in a different country, have a different religion to them or have a different skin colour. The massive majority of people opposing these racists are wanting to live their lives in peace with their friends family and neighbours. Anyone thinking that it's a matter of condemning both sides really needs to look at what side they're truly on.

I was more than happy with how things played out last night. Intelligence suggested numerous goons were going to be taking part in EDL style violent protests, so loads of actual decent human beings came out to make it clear that the majority don't welcome such bigoted fuckwits in their towns and cities and basically pissed on their bonfire. One of the more successful evenings in recent British history I'd say. Would much rather EDL get put off by that kind of thing, rather than our officers trying to police a riot suffering bricks and bins thrown at them and vans set on fire. 'Tommy' will have been devastated, must have had to have had a couple of extra pina colada's whilst wiping away his tears.

This was the second biggest story on the BBC News website for most of yesterday. The things you mention are being reported on. Although you say you're not, you're coming across as a bit desperate to defend organised racist riots, for some reason.

'A Salford man who pleaded not guilty to a racially aggravated public order offence and assault left the court crying as he was refused bail.
Alex Fraser, of Leicester Road, Salford, was alleged to have been boasting about taking part in the weekend’s disorder before allegedly assaulting a man and shouting racial and homophobic abuse after drinking in the Moon Under Water pub in Manchester city centre on Monday, August 5'.
'A Stalybridge man has appeared before Manchester Magistrates’ Court charged with violent disorder on Saturday, August 3.
David Green, of Hamilton Street, Stalybridge, provided no indication of plea at a hearing this afternoon. Prosecutor Laura Peers said the 41-year-old had been identified from footage as kicking a black male who was on the floor whilst officers over him were trying to protect him. Defending, solicitor Michelle Crossland said Green was in full time employment.
District judge Jane Hamilton said his charge was a ‘serious one’. He will appear at Manchester Crown Square on September 11'
'A third man charged with playing a role in violent disorder involving a black man kicked on the ground has appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court. Andrew Phillips, aged 27, entered no indication of plea at court today (August 7). He will appear at Manchester Crown Square on Wednesday, September 11.
Prosecutors allege that Phillips, of Ripon Crescent, Stretford, was seen to play an ‘active role’ as a black male lay on the floor being kicked by a group of people, and swore at officers. Defence solicitor Michelle Crossland said Phillips was in full time employment earning a good wage with a ‘very stable family’
'Michael Williams, 51
Williams, of Devon, was captured kicking a man in Plymouth city centre, before hurling bottles and rocks at police during disorder there. Plymouth Crown Court heard that he drank six cans of Stella Artois before joining the riot and was heard chanting: "Who the f*** is Allah' repeatedly.
The 51 year old also told police a rock found in his pocket was for "healing purposes", which a judge dismissed as "ludicrous".
He was jailed for two years and eight months after pleading guilty to violent disorder'.
'A teenager who joined riots in Hartlepool while out celebrating his 18th birthday has been detained for 20 months.
Bobby Shirbon, of Cornwall Street, Hartlepool, took part in two consecutive nights of disorder in the town, Teesside Crown Court heard. He was seen smashing windows during violent scenes on July 31 – the day he turned 18 – while part of a group that was throwing bricks and bottles at police. The defendant then threw beer bottles at a police van while wearing a balaclava the following night as part of further disorder involving a smaller group of youths.
Shirbon, who pleaded guilty to two charges of violent disorder, said “it’s okay, everybody else is doing it” when he was arrested, it was said'.
'Former postmaster and school governor Steven Mailen, 54, and his partner Ryan Sheers, 29, were captured dancing and gesticulating at a line of police officers on Murray Street in Hartlepool as the crowd behind them roared on the evening of July 31. Mailen shouted abuse at an officer, who repeatedly warned him to "get back." Mailen refused, and was hit by a police baton on his leg. His partner, Sheers, shouted abuse as he tried to push through the line of five police officers. He was bitten on the hip and the right buttock by a police dog, which prompted the crowd to disperse.
Mailen tried to free his partner from the dog, and he grabbed a police officer's radio, which had fallen to the ground. A scuffle broke out as it took three police officers to arrest Mailen and get him into a police van.
On Thursday, he wept in the dock at Teesside Crown Court as the judge was told that the couple had spent the day "at the bingo" and that they had happened upon the riot by chance when they went out later in the evening to buy alcohol. Police bodycam footage captured Mailen, who now works as a carer, dancing and taunting officers "at the forefront of the mob." Mailen later kicked an officer in the shin, as he was arrested.
Sheers was captured following his partner, gesticulating at the police and ignoring repeated demands to "get back." The footage captured an audible gasp from the crowd, as the police dog pulled at his shorts and bit him on the right buttock and hip.
Both men were jailed for 26 months'.
