Yes it's correct it beat Venice,Rome etc.
I work at the Etihad (man city home) usually work outside. Was in the tunnel last game and saw blazened across a stand. 'and on the sixth day God created Manchester City'. Well not to sure of that validity! It's based on the mosaic in Short Street Manchester by artist Mark Kennedy which says Manchester (not city).
Well got me thinking.
Could we not blazen our ground with 'The most beautiful city in the world' Home of Chester FC. Have T-shirts. Scarfs.
Not only promoting the club but also our city.
Our City (The most beautiful City in the World).
Come on Hope and Glory get working on this.

Hope & Glory are an independent kit manufacturer. Correct. And they make most things we purchase from the club shop. So OK being pedantic. Club Shop act with Hope & Glory.

I have to agree with the statement and it regularly crosses my mind as I’m walking through the Sealand Industrial Estate with the smell of human faeces wafting in the air from the sewage plant ❤️

Good post, attracting the usual Devachat snark.
With the decline of print media etc. I'd imagine it's harder than ever to attract new fans at our level.
So any advantage, attention grabbing angles to help us are worth exploring.
And also yes even the contrast between the beautiful city and the deva being "turn right after the dump" is amusing.

It's not about where are stadium is. It's about congratulations to our city and our football club is in that city. We all know our ground is not in a beautiful place.

To be fair there will probably be another survey next month and somewhere else will be voted as the most beautiful.

Chester as a City is not a patch on what it was in the past Think they were judging it on what it was like in AD80 still, not the fact Wilkos has shut down.

Chester as a City is not a patch on what it was in the past Still knocks spots off pretty much most other places in the country. Most people here don't realise how good they've got it.

Brilliant! Someone has a suggestion and the first half a dozen posts immediately pile on to say it’s a useless idea.
I’m really glad of DC for highlighting ideas, podcasts, club news etc but the negativity in the replies is really depressing and exhausting. As far as I can see it’s the same six of so people. If you have nothing positive to contribute why not consider not saying anything.

The thing with piling on like this is that you put people off posting. You might not like this idea (personally I ld love to see big murals like the MCFC one he mentions) but you also stifle other ideas in the future.

Few of us have discussed having some murals done, and have highlighted a couple of areas this would work even going as far as getting permission for one wall. Unfortunately the cost is a massive obstacle...

Or do you mean the cost of renting a wall or something?

Chester as a City is not a patch on what it was in the past Really? Chester is a beautiful city rich heritage, Roman links.....the original Deva stadium is still here near the Newgate. How many places can boast that their original stadium is still there after 2000 years?

Good point but given one end is missing nowadays, is it really any better than the old Burnden Park, with it's Normid end.

I’m lucky enough to be able to get about a bit and explore our own country and whilst I love it, it does also become obvious that what is on my doorstep is vastly superior to most other places. I can relate to both of the posts quoted here. As a kid, I rarely ventured very far outside the city, so it was all I really knew - if anything, hearing my parents and grandparents talk about how the Chester of today isn’t a patch on what it was like in the 60s made me think I’d drawn the short straw. It’s only in more recent times that I’ve been able to see a lot more of the country - and how much of it, with all due respect, compared unfavourably to what’s on the doorstep - and have consequently come to appreciate just how special a place our hometown is. There are livelier cities, and there are small towns and villages with perhaps more unspoilt beauty, but Chester surely has to rank towards the very top when it comes to combining the aesthetic, the historical, and the practical. What’s more, we even manage to do it without being totally overrun by tourists, unlike certain other places (*cough* York *cough*)… from my experiences, Cambridge is probably the only English city I can think of from the top of my head that potentially beats us on the criteria I’ve listed. It certainly gives a sense of pride when people from all over the world are sharing pictures of our city in awe on social media, or when people you meet react enviously when you tell them where you’re from. I think we all need to take stock of just how fortunate we are that we could’ve been born anywhere in the world, but have ended up in (or close to) such a wonderful place!

The wall space would be free as we weren't looking at an advert, more a bit of fan art expressing our love for the club.
