We're down to 10 already, Rawlinson lost possession as last man and pulled down their striker, literally 2 minutes in, poor decision making from Rawlinson poor, i say stupid decision, their man gets a goal and we have 87 minutes and 11 men to equalizer. beggars' believe a seasoned pro make such a missake. I said when it happened I would rather they had scored than we went down to 10 men, but I suppose the argument against that is we won the game, and we're probably still a better side than Stockton even a man down. Plus, I was thinking if you're Stockton, would you rather score after 2 minutes or be a man up? You'd probably rather score, so those two opinions can't both make sense. The bigger problem really is that Rawlinson got himself into that position in the first place. I did think going back to the first half of South Shields game that we were far too dithery and casual in some dangerous positions. I'm not saying "just hoof it", but I do think you have to be realistic about the limitations of sixth-tier defenders. I saw a graphic the other day that said that Arsenal, who are better than they've been in years, are now sending 85% of their goal kicks long.

Icing on the cake with this is that the Leamington game is now postponed. Which is good for me as it’s a relatively easy game to get to as an exile and I couldn’t make the original date. Bit of a bummer for me, I was looking forward to seeing the Blues soon. Not sure I'd want to make Leamington on a Tuesday night. Glad we're through though of course.

Main thing is we got through and it’s extra cash in the coffers. I actually felt the sending off and the way we won meant people went home made up with the result than a bog standard two nil result against eleven men. Deserved red card but I don’t think the lad would have scored still lot of ground to make up with Burke steaming around and keeper to beat.
Burke outstanding, Kev Roberts such a dependable experienced player to have in these circumstances was excellent, Bainbridge everywhere and Woody despite some questionable passes giving the ball away put in a real shift defensively. It simply wasn’t that type of game for the attackers.
I think the main concern now is squad depth. Caton playing wide and having to chase back looked shattered, similar with Kurt uptop. Peers got injured, Rawlinson suspended, Pollock injured, Willo long term out. At the moment the likes of Burke, Woody, Weeks, Caton, Kurt snd Bainbridge are going to be our glue players. Would love to see a loan coming in if some of these are out a while as huge month to come Farsley, Scunny and Curzon with the cup wedged between.

Twice against Rushall and he got away with it, twice on Saturday and got away with it. It was only a matter of time until passing directly to an opposition player in his own half was going to get punished.

I thought Burke was outstanding and deserved the winner. He encompasses everything you would want from a Chester player. Another decent shift by Bainbridge too - saw how much we missed him in midfield in time he was filling in at centre back - the bloke's a machine in the middle of the park.
We probably didn't need the lads to expend that much energy in a midweek game. Glad it didn't get to extra time. Hopefully Peers only got a knock and nothing too serious, as Caton & Kurt looked out on their feet when they came off.
Hopefully Pollock will be fit again soon, otherwise I hope that we can get another CB on loan.

Why do people like you sap the good out of everthing. Because he’s a miserable, negative man who can’t spell. He’s always at it. Anyway. Let’s ignore the negative crap from the usual suspects, on to Farsley and Scarborough. UTFS Man!!

Pollock was doing an intensive warm up session at the away match and looked okay, I am sure he will play on Saturday. 👍

Assuming its the seven day clause for Rawlinson's suspension then - so he can play this Saturday against Farsley Celtic but will miss the FA Cup tie at Scarborough the week after.

Lucky to have RAWLS at the back.

Yep, hitting the time of the season now where injuries and suspensions are kicking in and the same players are putting in shifts every game. Just got to get through it.

To be fair Kev Roberts is more than capable of slotting in at CB during an injury/suspension crisis. There is nothing that man can't do!

Good win on the night. As Cal said, the game plan went out of the window after two minutes and the rest of the first half was spent watching Stockton knock it around. We made some tactical changes at half time and were the better side in the second half. Credit to Stockton though because they came to have a go and had one or two half decent players.

I would have preferred a less tense evening but the lads battled for 95 minutes and fully deserved to go through, loved the way everyone in the dugout was verbally urging Burke to get on the end of that corner and he didn’t disappoint.

I thought they all put a shift in last night after going down to 10 men. Weeks was the only one who appeared off colour as he gave the ball away far more regularly than normal. Burke deservedly man of the match but Woodthorpe has to be in there for player of the season so far. Never below an 8/10.

Feared the worst when we went down to 10 men but watching the game you couldn't tell they had a man advantage.
On to Scarborough now. Anyone seen much about their new away end?

Aye, literally in the middle of nowhere, not much more than a park pitch with a barrier around it, and think we've always had stinkers there like 1-0 defeats or 0-0 draws.

Leamington (or Royal Leamington Spa) is a lovely town. Well worth an afternoon (assuming match is on a Tuesday evening). Sadly, as posted above, the ground is in the middle of nowhere with a terrible pitch and depressing club house. I think the pitch is part of the reason we never do well there. Grass is usually ankle high.

Worst away in this league Brackley runs it close. Mind you it's quite a long short list. Definitely close but Brackley has a couple of pubs within walking distance at least.
