I expect Killock may be as well As a person i wish him all the best, as a player i hope he isn't given a trial. We need a fully fit squad of players this year, as we've invested in a strong, small squad. Last season was the first he's been struck by injury, and we can't afford it to happen again.

He was perhaps a scapegoat for a poor season last year but this season we have little/no excuses. The squad is strong and the coaching staff are right, time to turn up and get a top half finish.

Would be strange to offer a player a trial having publicly announced that he's been released.

Surely the solution would be to put Killock on a monthly contract, with the understanding that he's free to find another club at any time. We know he's s good centre half IF he can stay fit.

He mainly plays right back these days but i see your point, he can certainly play anywhere across the back four WHEN FIT. I'd rather sign a player with proven fitness though on a proper contract, just on the basis that Killock could play well for a month and leave us with no cover if anyone get injured. We probably don't have the budget for two more defenders.

One of the trialists is Harry Pickering, an 18-year-old goalkeeper from Port Vale. Great to see Chris back. I didn't think the role as assistant was the best fit for him with media commitments etc. but it's good that he's here for our new strikers, especially White, Bell and Brown so he can coach them properly and pass on his experience. I really think we are showing more ambition this season, considering most clubs in our league are still on holiday whilst we have already started our pre-season.

Rio, why is it 'great' to see Big Chris Iwenoshow back? It's gutting he's still here to be honest. McCarthy has created a not needed job role for his mate, he's basically offered him his job back the only difference is that he turned up for the odd game last season. When was the last time we had a Strikers Coach? we didn't even, not to my knowledge have one when we were a full-time League Club.

I felt like if nothing else he did seem to have an impact on Alabi who seemed like an improved player after Chris came in. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a good appointment for him to come as assistant but if he is coming here for peanuts and passing on his experience to our strikers then it's a worthy wage imo. I get the impression that he misses the dressing room banter and wants to give something back to the game, but without giving up his media career that he has worked hard on, so I reckon him coming in to work with our strikers in the week suits all parties. He got some stick off people but in reality he only agreed to what he was offered so I have no issue with the man himself, it was just stupidity from McCarthy at the time.

INMHO I think our young strikers will learn more from Ross Hannah than they ever will from CI.

Just to add to this, i've heard that he's being paid pretty much expenses to be the striker coach, not a proper wage. His media commitments still take priority but shouldn't interfere with this role at all so for me, its a big plus to have someone of his pedigree and experience working with some of our younger lads.

I notice from the photos and videos that Astles has been working hard on his physique over the past two months. Credit to him.

Well done on him if that's the case. Not seen any pictorial evidence myself as yet but I was fearing the worst for his shorts come August!

I always guessed that might be the case, but the amount of people on here accusing him of being a wage thief shows that the fact is we don't know what wage anybody is getting. On a personal note I don't think he brings much, but if he is we will find out when the season gets going.

I may be a bit biased, but they couldn't find a nicer place to train. Fantastic pitches, beautiful location and private. Great deal whoever set that up.
