Wonder how many will be going to see the game against Alsager tonight. The academy team are playing due to no other date available for either team. Will they need to rename this competition to Cheshire Youngster Cup. What does Cheshire Senior Cup actually mean, is it to do with players age or the standard of a Cheshire team.

Quite a few county cup competitions elsewhere in the country are done during pre-season. Start and end during pre-season, give or take the last round or two.

Great chance of silverware.
Should be taking this seriously now we’re out of the FA cup.

It's a pity that we're having to play a full youth side. The Cheshire Cup can be a good opportunity to give fringe players and a few youth players a competitive game. Some of these have been a good watch in recent years.

Finished 1-1. We won 3-2 on penalties, we missed our first 2 while they scored theirs to go 2-0 up. They missed their last 3 and we scored our last 3.

Did Mason save 3 or were they missed. From twitter - 'Cam Mason saves three pens and then scores the winner for us to advance! 💙'

Odd that the website doesn’t even acknowledge it. Never mind a match report they haven’t even updated the score in the fixtures section

Fantastic that from a team of kids (goalkeeper aside). Fair play!

Appreciate my social life needs a rethink but enjoyed the game and the kids played well against a team with a few good players and a few older lads who had been round the block. Their no 2 was decent and the lad who scored was experienced. It was a hard fought game. Reffed their a few times and I don’t think the ground has seen a nail or paint brush in 25 years. The steps down from the dressing room were a worry as a ref, like north face of the river on an Icey day.
Going two down on pens in first two rounds would break some teams but not these lads. Mason scored winner. Our second pen went 20 yards over and a little lad laughed his head off. He was crying when Mason scored.
Credit to our youngsters they wore the shirt with pride. The production line is still in good hands.

The production line is still in good hands. Yeah, I honestly quite enjoyed it too. The young lads proved more than a match for their senior opponents - certainly a much better performance than at Stockport Town last season, when they were totally outclassed - and the penalty shootout alone was worth the journey and the entrance fee. Missing our first two, with Rosenblatt’s nearly going out of the ground, but Mason then making himself a hero by saving three on the bounce (and guessing the right way for all five) before stepping up to smash home the winner. Very hospitable hosts, as well, and a surprisingly decent, if pretty ‘old-school’, ground, considering the stature of their club.
