Given Kane’s recent comments, what do you think?

Both are very similar to each other get you excited every year to be let down at the last hurdle
Would rather England win something though been way too long.
As a player however there should be no greater honour then representing your country.

I think there generally is an appetite for International football, but the problem this season is the amount of it.
3 international breaks in the first 11 games of the league season is ridiculous. I'm not the least bit surprised that players are dropping like flies given the forthcoming busy Christmas schedule.

Think the question is so different to us fans of a fan-owned non-league regional football club than it is to the likes of Kane, Palmer etc - actual players who play for top clubs and for their country.

It baffles me how Country has got 6 votes??? Well it was related to the Kane/England situation. In that case I think it’s an absolute disgrace that players are opting not to play for their country, it should be considered an honour. There’s been some conflation since about what fans would prefer which is a different question & trickier for me, I’ve seen Chester win four league titles, I’ve never seen England win anything. And one World Cup win in my life would do me whereas I’d want Chester to keep pushing on & building on any success.

To make the situation more relatable to us, you could use the example of Angus Eve, who was regularly missing our games in the 2000 relegation season to play for Trinidad, including the crucial final game against Peterborough. He was definitely a country before club man. Was he right?

Most of his caps were won whilst contracted to us but out on loan back in his homeland with Joe Public FC. I was mascot for that Peterborough game.

There's definitely some hypocrisy and contradiction in the way people look at this situation. People use phrases like "playing well for your club is the most important thing" and "playing for your country is your highest honour" in almost the same breath. Both can't be true.
As Chester fans, I think almost all of us would rather see Chester win than our country. But as Englishmen and Welshmen, most of us probably also find it a bit annoying seeing Premier League players suddenly get "injured" when the international fixtures come round. But if had a player who was a regular starter for a small Caribbean or African nation, for example, would we be happy with them constantly going around the world, missing league games, coming back with injuries? I'd imagine not. So we're all quite selfish and guided by self-interest in how we view this.
Ian Wright made a fair point that the FA have sent out a pretty clear signal that they didn't see these games as that important by sticking with an interim manager, so can you be surprised if the players don't either? I feel like we haven't quite cottoned on to the Nations League yet. We seem to treat it like its a Mickey Mouse event, but it's very important that England win this group and don't become a second-tier European nation, as this will make it much harder to land a favourable group when major tournaments come round.

I think being chosen to represent your country should be considered more important yeah, but I get that everything’s relative & many players take it for granted. As for complaining about players going on international duty, I do understand the frustration but if you sign players from continents who play their tournaments during our season then you know what you’re getting into.

I remember as a ten year old watching England win the World Cup. I didn't think then that it would be the only time I would. Then I started going to watch Chester. Mediocre became the norm with some bouts of the good things in football occasionally. You've got to appreciate the highs because there an awful lot of lows to bear. (The first year i bought a season ticket we were relegated!) You always hope for successes and enjoy them when they come along.
As for club vs country I always want England to do well but I really love it when Chester do really well. (And for more of it)
