Leek Town Away 1990 roughly.F A Cup match .The game had been postponed on the Saturday because of snow.It was played the following Tuesday.Big contingent of Chester fans at the game located along the newly built popular side. The police parked us at the top of the hill and we walked down to the ground. It was freezing.Located near the ground was a cosy pub packed with Chester fans.No one wanted to leave. The pitch was topped with ice.Players had a job to stand. We scored straight away Brian Croft I think. They equalised in the last minute great atmosphere. Then we trudged back to the car park.Beat them 4.0 in the replay at Macc. What’s been your coldest game?

Kiddy away a couple of years ago when we won 2-0.
Nothing and I mean nothing had prepared me for it. I remember I couldn’t bring myself to drive home and just sat in the car with the heaters on for half hour.
Swear it was -8 wind chill.
I need confirmation Rio didn’t wear shorts that night

I’ll have to go with Kidderminster Harriers away in 2022 for my coldest game as well. The pitch was grey due to the frost, but because Kiddy had undersoil heating it didn’t get abandoned.
That’s closely followed by Dagenham and Redbridge away in February 2018. It was during the time of the ‘Beast from the East’, and the wind was absolutely bitter, despite being stood at the back of that large stand behind one of the goals. We were 1-2 up with around five minutes to go, but The Daggers scored two last gasp goals to win 3-2. Ironically, that exact same thing happened in the February of 2017 as well. We’ve also lost 6-0 and 6-2 at Victoria Road, so to say it isn’t a happy hunting ground would be a massive understatement.

Kidderminster was definitely chilly - I only went because it's fairly local, even though it was on TV - and the Long Johns came in handy.
But Blackpool away midweek in February (maybe the League Cup?), standing on what was then a completely open away end as the wind howled in from the Irish Sea takes some beating (as, I recall, so did we).

I'm giving an honourable mention to Prescot Cables away - New Years Day 2011, but the coldest for me was Leek away in the FA Cup, as hughie opened with.
I only watched the Kiddy 2 nil game on TV, but I was shivering just watching it, so I'm sure that would compete.

Middlesborough away in the FA Cup freezing day and a shocking result 6-0, think Noteman's penalty is still in orbit. The wind blowing off the river straight into the away end of the new Riverside Stadium.

Went down to a mid week cup game at Rushden and Diamonds many years ago and it was absolutely Baltic, was praying for a goal from either side and it went to extra time and penalties - can’t remember the cup competition or the result, think we got beat 🙄

Kettering away in early Jan 2003....I'm only just thawing out. Was that the shit 0-0 draw when the Hipkiss was late getting there and we all had to jump off and run down the street to the ground and missed the first five minutes? Overall a proper shit day that.

We won 1-0 at Kettering on what was indeed a very cold afternoon. But that experience of getting there late and then witnessing a tedious 0-0 draw is exactly what happened at Dag & Red the following season.

Seem to recall it was Clare from close range, on what was otherwise a very uneventful game.

Kendal. Considering it was almost Easter, absolutely freezing. Agree with you and weareblues about this one. The fact that it was early April made the brutal windchill a real shock. Sought shelter at half time and did not really want to go out again to watch the second half despite us leading and playing OK. Finished 3-0 to ease the pain from the cold. Canal Street in 1978 also sticks out. My car was frozen up by 6.00 pm and could not believe the Cup replay was still on. Pitch was like a skating rink but a 5-0 win made it feel warmer than it was !

Never really had great days in Dagenham have we - two back-to-back 0-6 defeats also.

Staylebridge 4-1 at home in the league the harry Mac was shut was baynes scored two wonder goals that was cold We had to clear a huge amount of snow off the frost covers to get the game on but the scoreline made it worth the collective effort.

In the Northern Premier League Season, Kendall away (in April) where the guy selling the fanzine was shivering and I'm not sure he had a coat! In the same season, Marine away was wet and perishing.

Grimsby away, Tuesday night February 2005. Lost 1-0. Blackpool away, December 78. Lost 3-0. Hartlepool away, January 1996. Lost 2-1. Was anyone else at any of these? sort of games where you ask yourself, why am I doing this?
