Bury in the Leyland Daf Trophy 27/11/90. We were at home (Macclesfield ground). I was one of the 409.

Welling away Jan 2015. I spent the GDP of a third world country on hot drinks for the kids just to keep their hands warm. Won 1-3 though.

Sealand Road home to Bolton Wanderers, think it was January 1987. Awful bone chilling 0-0. The only entertainment on offer was the Bolton fans' snowball fight at half time, and a single line Mexican wave which fans occasionally did after it caught on in the Mexico '86 World Cup, which was considerably warmer.
As for playing, I snapped my right little finger 90 degrees to the right when I was in goal as the ground was still frozen on a Sunday morning. It was 0-0 with less than ten minutes to go. I couldn't play on and we went on to lose 3-0.

We won 1-0 at Kettering on what was indeed a very cold afternoon. But that experience of getting there late and then witnessing a tedious 0-0 draw is exactly what happened at Dag & Red the following season. Ah yes, I've collated all those memories into one! Never really had great days in Dagenham have we - two back-to-back 0-6 defeats also. I also got grabbed by the throat in the social club after at the final game of the season when they failed to win the league. East end wanker wasn't happy with the Chester fans singing "2-0 to the Boston boys". Boston winning meant their 3-0 victory over us meant nothing.

A few random memories from me that haven’t been mentioned yet.
Cardiff 6 v Chester 0. FA Cup late 1990s. Absolutely freezing and we had that huge open away end all to ourselves. I seem to remember a few fans doing a conga for a) entertainment and b) to stay warm.
The only two games I’ve ever bought a hot drink at were Leyton Orient 2 v Chester 2, also in the late 1990s when the away section remained terrace and a trip up to Darlington in the mid 2000s which was a truly vile soup from a machine. Both were purchased just to try and get a tiny bit of warmth. The Darlo one may have been the game when their steward got removed from the away end for trying to have a scrap before reappearing in a different stand and being removed from there. Anyone remember that truly bonkers experience?
Kendall was bonkers cold and I recall loads of Chester fans watching a random Champions League match in the social club rather than the actual game. I think that match was actually re-arranged as well from a previous postponement. Prescott was pretty nippy as well with constant rain but Stuart Jones’ last minute goal warmed us up a bit!
Didn’t we have a game abandoned for a frozen pitch in the FA Trophy at the Deva in the early 2000s? I can’t recall that too much but I’m assuming it was a tad nippy if it was abandoned due to a frozen pitch! I’m sure it was against Worksop or someone nearby them.
Weirdly I remember going to Man City 1 v Everton 2 on a Monday night in about 2010 with a friend who was a huge Everton fan. Pretty much every game in the pyramid had been postponed that weekend but they made a huge effort to get that one for TV. I remember it pushing minus 10 when I left for it and loads of trains being cancelled so the away end was pretty sparse.

Middlesborough away in the FA Cup freezing day and a shocking result 6-0, think Noteman's penalty is still in orbit. The wind blowing off the river straight into the away end of the new Riverside Stadium. Has to be this game for me never been so cold , to be fair it was cold boarding the buses at the ground but at a whole different level at theirs , fucking siberia with a wind of the north sea , But what a side they had full of internationals including ravanelli ,juniho ,Emerson and it was Craig Hignett who did the most damage I seem to remember , A good day out .

Played about 20 minutes before the ref brought a halt to it and it should probably never have started. In terms of games at the Deva, one that comes to mind given we’ve got the same fixture next week was Oxford City in a midweek match in 2012-13. They arrived late so it didn’t kick off until about 8.30pm and it was a bitterly cold evening - basically the total opposite of the away game in the sunshine on the opening day.
