Calum McIntyre has today been appointed on a permanent employment contract. This is a great signing for our club and our youth team, testament to all the hard work he puts in and to all the success he has achieved so far. Congratulations Calum!

Used to speak to him about the Blues every day as he used to be my PE teacher at Christleton High School for a few years. Delighted for him 🔵⚪️

People may know more than me, but I don't understand why we would need a full time academy coach for a part time academy that don't train every day. Seems a strange one to me personally but fair play to him, looks like he's got a nice little role there. I appreciate people may say it's to bring on more players like Sam Hughes, but Sam was never there full time so it wouldn't actually help do this in any way.

This job is paid for by a sponsor so costs the club nothing. the academy players also get contracts and schooling as well as coaching .this ensures nobody leaves for free .seems a no brainer to me

As Calum was a PE teacher,I am sure that he will still have contacts and he will, perhaps, spend some time talking to them and visiting schools, which can do no harm in recruiting juniors.

Nice one Calum. Hardworking lad who has a real infectious manner about him that engages his players when he coaches. Always gets the best out of the players he coaches, which is the sign of a very good coach indeed.
Also will be working with the scholars programme next year, which I believe will be full time and will come with a good chunk of administration to carry out.

Rio announced that Calum has been made permanent. Thanks for the info. Is it just an assumption that this equates to full-time? Can we have a confirmation on whether it is a full or part time role. Does he still teach PE?

With the academy now being under a scholarship scheme, thus meaning, apart from playing football, our older youth players will be educated at the ground, then Calum's appointment on a full-time contract is a no brainer. If we can produce a Premier League player within 7 years, then think what we could produce in another 10 years with this structure in place.

Calum also helps with the coaching of the first team. The lad doesn't have a day off to be fair. big credit should go to Ian Swetenham. I've heard NWAS say it before but for every hour Calum gets paid the club get double back. superb appointment and another positive in a list of positives that gets bigger by the day. Roll on pre season.
