Just want to say lads, your enthusiasm is brilliant and takes me back to my days on the Harry Mac. When they could easily be sat off at home on a weekend watching Premier League football on Sky, they are instead down at the Swansway Chester stadium getting behind their local team. Danny and his mates have gone out and raised money to improve the atmosphere on a matchday and both Rio and his sister are there too doing their bit to volunteer. Guys, keep up the amazing work, because you are the future of this wonderful football club and hopefully your enthusiasm and dedication will rub off on more young people, and even older supporters too.
Alan.

Couldn't agree more. Great to see the next generation getting involved. They have got a few years of optimism left before they turn into miserable pessimistic sods like the rest of us so enjoy it whilst it lasts 😂

To be honest, if I was a young lad back on there now, then I would be wondering what on Earth folk are complaining about when we have had to deal with all that crap since 1992, and for decades before that too.

Agree with the sentiment of the thread, can't fault their commitment and enthusiasm which is very refreshing even to an old cynic like me (and trust me lads, you two will be as cynical and depressing as the most of us in ten years' time - I was once like you are now). However, the sycopahantic Maguire nonsense doesn't sit right with me. It reminds me of the hold SV had over some people ("cronies") online years ago and whilst Maguire continues to come across as shady and shifty I don't think I can let that go.

I was in a meeting with Maguire last Thursday and I can assure you he is a very down to earth, honest guy who wants the best for this football club. Simple as that.

The thread has nothing to do with anything about the Harry Mac lads'/Mark Maguire discussions; saying that the club has been criticised for not engaging with younger fans previously, so damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess. My take on it is that the young lads are excited about being listened too and engaged with, and maybe actually appreciate that their voices are being heard, so maybe that's where their "pro-Maguire" thought process comes from. As a supporter owned club, both paid and non-paid employees i.e. the board and Mark Maguire, are accountable to its owners, so we are in a different time then when Vaughan was seemingly having a hold over certain people. I can also guarantee you that Mark Maguire does not keep a gun at the football club.

If Rio and Danny are half as enthusiastic when they are old enough to become board members then they'll have my vote

If Rio and Danny are half as enthusiastic when they are old enough to become board members then they'll have my vote Spot on. This is key to the long-term future of the football club. We need these young lads to show this desire and passion, because God forbid we got into a situation where we couldn't even elect a board because years of questioning the motivations of our young supporters caused them to stick two fingers up and go and support a Premier League club.

I'm off to university next year to study Business and Marketing and I wish to make use of this degree at the club I love one day. Hopefully in a decade or so we can look back at Devachat archives and see this.

I already spoke to Maguire today about work experience which I'm hoping to do next year. He seemed really delighted with that and will fully support me.

You have been a fan for a fair while, but not as long as some. In the 36 years I have spent watching the blues I cant remember a more positive season after such a dire end to the season before ( other than the first year of reformation).
If you feel that strongly about the way Mark Maguire is conducting his business, and I am quite sure your intentions are good, as you did stand for the board a while back, IIRC, then email the guy and ask him for an hour of his time and put your concerns directly to him. I will bet out of the two you one will want to do this and the other wont be bothered.

Certainly is great to see young enthusiastic fans, keep it up boys!
I think the Vaughan years meant we bypassed a generation a bit as we weren't much fun to support around then. As a result, you don't seem to see many twenty-somethings around the ground these days. It's really important that these lads are made to feel that the club is theirs, and are not ridiculed. If you're taking the piss out of kids on the internet, you really need to have a hard look at yourself anyway.
