Does anyone know what sort of teams we'll be playing in which pre-season games? Given the close proximity of some of the games I assume some will be first teamers and some will be the fringe players?
Monday 10th July - Runcorn (A) Tuesday 11th July - Flint (A) Thursday 13th July - Hyde (A) Monday 17th July - Bala (A) Tuesday 18th July - Altrincham (A) Thursday 20th July - Witton (A) Saturday 22nd July - Walsall (H) Saturday 29th July - Port Vale (H)

I've heard the first teamers will play a part in both, with a mix of trialists/fringe players.

If you're planning to go to Runcorn Town by train on Monday, be aware that several operators are affected by guards' strikes on Monday, so check first. Definitely no Merseyrail services after 7pm.

Do the Hipkiss run supporters coaches for pre-season friendlies? Yeah, 12 quid to Flint. Departs the ground at 5.30pm

Think next season we need to try and get a money spinning friendly down at the deva. I think we should've had a special game this year to celebrate our 25th year at the Deva Stadium.

The days of "money spinning friendlies" are gone I'm afraid. The big clubs are too busy with their marketing exploits in Asia and the U.S. to bother with little old Chester.

True I'm afraid but the likes of Derby, Leeds etc would have some attraction. Having said that, I guess they would be reluctant to traipse across the country for a one-off friendly so maybe we're stuck with relatively local sides

Our first game was against Stockport and with Maguire being a supporter and former CEO there, surely he has the contacts to arrange a game? Maybe the police wouldn't like it..

But Liverpool have bothered with Tranmere though - we've surely got a good chance of getting them down for a pre season as well, considering they've used our places for reserve/youth team games in the past
