So tomorrow is our last pre-season friendly before the big day in Birmingham next week. I would imagine this being treated as a 'league game' to get us ready and prepared. It will be another tough test, but hopefully we can put in a good performance like we did in the second half against Walsall. Come on you blues! Score: Chester FC (Bell, Akintunde) 2-1 Port Vale Attendance: 1,073 (251 Port Vale) COYB!

Another good test for the boys before next weekends big game. The intensity in training would of gone up a notch this week to start getting in that routine. Hopefully another good performance tomorrow and hopefully come away with no injuries and plenty of positives going into Solihull. COYB⚽⚽⚽

Rio would you happen to know if season tickets can be picked up tomorrow? Lawrence Kirby said at the CFU meeting last night they may be available for collection from next Friday, so it doesn't look like tomorrow sorry.

Not sure about White but no point rushing them back plus you'd expect Hannah and White to be first choice so this is a perfect chance for Aki and Bell to show what they can do.

0-1 Vale. Misjudged header gave Vale the ball and it was put away. Nothing against the lads. sounds like we're playing well.

1-1 Nyall Bell again, any chance we can change his name so Gateshead don't know when he scores!

Not sure if I've missed it but who's this Mitchell in goal? Potential new loan signing if he impressed JMc today. Plays for burnley, 21 years old, had a previous loan spell at Bradford P.A but can't find much on that.

Decent game. Very good performance by us. Excellent passing and we had them on the backfoot a lot. Didn't really test their keeper but there's something there as an attacking unit. Watching the game thinking that Bell and Akintunde could be a hell of a pair, forgetting we have Hannah and White as options too.
We fell asleep once and they scored but otherwise we looked very solid. Andy Halls looks a top full back, Mahon showed glimpses of his best and it was great to see James back. Think Turnbull could turn out to be our most important player thus season.
Plenty to be optimistic about this season.

Good solid performance that, for me that's the midfield I would start with we looked so much more balanced Today, and to be fair both the front lads had good games too. The mistake for the goal aside I dont think they really troubled us.

I thought that we played very well today and competed well against a Port Vale side who were second best for most of the game. It was a good warm up for next Saturday which will have got the players into a nice routine. Nyal Bell was excellent. His pace up front was impressive and he scored another exquisite goal. Jon McCarthy must have a big headache on which pair is going to start next week up top. Paul Turnbull also played really well along with our 4 defenders. Also the goalie looked good, especially with his vocal prescence. Their is a lot to be positive about for next season with the squad we have established and let's hope we can play similar to this in the league. Onto the big one at Solihull now, and my excitement is beginning to hit fever pitch! Bring it on!!! COYB! 🔵⚪️

Very impressed with what I saw, carry that performance onto the league and we'll do well. Ps to the little tit on the terrace who was screaming every time Vale went on the attack, annoying little bellend. Agree on the belland bit. Arse kept it up most of the match. Needs to get a life Good performance today and enjoyable friendly as they go. Sometimes they feel not more than a practice match in training but this one from us today had more bite in it. We really closed them down in midfield and put some strong tackles in. The midfield four today look our best pick from what we have. Dawson seems today to have benefitted from a preseason as he looked a much better player than what we saw for a good chunk of last season. Turnbell and James look they solid signings that I expected. Mahon looked up for it today and worked really hard. Did some runs but can't help feeling he looks a bit rusty after a long layoff at the end of last season. The defence looked solid apart from gifting them a goal thanks to an awful header from Halls I think. Astles his usual sold self with some very long clearances. Others have said the goalkeeper looked good. The goal; wasn't his fault but he didn't really have a lot to do so it is quite hard to make a judgement. Really pleasing today was our front two. On paper Hannah and White look our strongest pair with their experience and previous goals. However Bell and Atikunde held their own today with a really good goal as well. After having one striker pretty much last season who ran hot and cold we really have strength in depth here now. Only concerns really going into the start of the season is our lack of cover in defence, I am sure before Saturday we will have another body hopefully in. Also our starting midfield looked good. Joyce was average and Davis didn't really add anything either when they came on. Guessing the 3 young lads at the end got some sort of appearance bonus otherwise I really didn't see the point for 60 seconds or s it looks good for the season based on today. However the last preseason friendly 2 or 3 years ago Chappell did look a superb signing!

I think Bell will get plaudits for his two goals and rightly so, however Akintunde is a really good prospect and is one of our own players. Think he's working really hard and if he can add a few goals and make sure that injury doesn't repeat on him, he's one to watch.
