Looks set to join Warrington Town on loan. Not surprised given the fact that there is Shaw, James, Davies, Turnball and Dawson who can play in that position.

A good move this. Keeps him matchfit. He will be needed through the season.

So we give him a 1 year deal and then farm him out on loan. Wasted contract. I'd have hoped we would have learnt our lesson about things like this after Will Marsh. We can't afford to have passengers on our budget, he should never have been retained.

For a side with no real full back cover and a rookie centre back as the only second choice it's bizarre we've even signed him over another defender.

Should find his level at Warrington if this is true. Was bizarre that he was re-signed in the first place.

We can't afford to have passengers on our budget, he should never have been retained. Never saw the point of re signing Joyce. The best that anyone says about him is that he's a useful squad player and didn't cost much. Looked like a bit of a panic deal to make up the numbers. May as well get game time somewhere else but not sure how it helps us. Assume we will still be paying his wages, or most of them.

Don't see the point in loaning him out. He can play multiple positions which is just what we need from a back up player.

His cameo v Port Vale summed him up. Great tackle in the middle, won the ball then gave it away with a very poor short pass.
He's a solid utility player but if him being moved on opens space for another defender then best of luck to him. He's never going to get a look in with James, Turnbull, Dawson and even Davies ahead of him. Rather have Shaw put his boots back on if needed.

There isn't really any point in loaning him out right now. Maybe if he's had little game time by January/February we could loan him out but he's only just signed a one-year deal. A waste of a wage if true.

Really, there's only two reasons for us to be loaning out players - because they're young and not quite ready for the first team yet, or because we eventually want them off the wage bill and are loaning them out in a "try before you buy" scheme.
At 23, Joyce needs to be at least on the periphery of the first team. I'm all for the likes of Brown, Crawford and Jones going out on loan to get some game time, but we don't really have a big enough squad to be having senior players who are deemed so far down the pecking order that they can be shipped out to a lower league club for a few months. So yes, it does seem a waste of a wage to have renewed his contract.

I must be the only one who thinks this is a good move for both us and the player , we only have to have a couple of injuries or suspensions to our midfield players for Joyce to come into contention so it makes sense to me to have him match fit if he is required. Due to having no reserve team the fringe players will not get any game time and it is too early to bring the young lads in.

Due to having no reserve team the fringe players will not get any game time and it is too early to bring the young lads in. I see the argument, but I would say that any senior player on our books should be challenging for a first team place. I get that squads need depth and everything, but I'm not sure we should have players seen purely as 'backup' in case we get a few injuries. If we're so sure that Joyce isn't going to get near the first team that we're willing to loan him out, I think you've got to ask whether that wage could've been used better. Saying that, it seems like there's some doubt over whether the story is even accurate, so maybe we're all jumping the gun a bit.

Not much chance of starting a match but keeping match sharp at Warrington in case we need cover. He's on a contract so makes sense to keep him as fit as possible
