I couldn't make the game today but always listening to the live commentary, twitter updates etc.. And as soon as the 90th hit the clock we literally sat back and again invited pressure on us despite having momentum to go and get a third and win the game. The negativity is staggering and the Manager has to hold his hands up. This is not Just the start of the season for him, this form and performances have been like this since February so when enough going to be enough?

We sat back for the last 5 minutes as McCarthy was happy with a point Exactly. In a game we were so much on top for the majority of the second half, until retreating late on, sitting in and trying to take a point. I'm absolutely boiling at the mentality. We will never have a better chance to take the 3 points, referee was a homer and Sutton were clearly rattled. Only we could throw a game away in those circumstances. First half, we were woeful, set up again like an away side, high hopeful balls up to no one again, players standing off and the keeper diving over the second goal. Mahons great strike got us back in it bang on half time and then we dominated for 35 minutes before McCarthy tactical genius strikes again. Let's get rid of this clown, we have good players who when allowed to play and are let off the leash are capable of holding there own in this league, it's the manager who's negative attitude to games holding them back and nothing will change until he is removed.

Maybe if Chapell hadn't been robbed of the ball so easily for their 3rd we'd be talking about a creditable draw! I've never seen player knocked off the ball so easily as him.
First half was as bad as anything I've seen for a long time, the players just didn't look like they'll had a clue and the atmosphere was toxic when they scored their second with Macca reacting to criticism from the crowd.
Mahon single handedly dragged us back into the game and we got lucky with the disallowed goal. When we drew level under the circumstances most teams would have gone for the jugular, but whether it's poor fitness or lack of options we just ended up reverting to sitting back and paid the price just like we did so many times last season.
Now we have Hannah and White out for weeks and a big month of games coming up. Just can't see where the points are going to come from to drag us up the table.
It seems not much has changed since last season with the crowds dwindling to an all time low.
Something's gotta change if this carries on!!!

I just knew what was coming the minute Chappel picked up that ball. The lad has absolutely no strength or bottle what so ever. A strong wind would knock him over. All you have to do is protect that football, get a free kick, or even bang it up the pitch and a hard fought come back point is ours. But no, billy no bollocks gets swatted off the ball and its game over.

Just another indictment of McCarthy as far as I am concerned. Chappell is an absolutely woeful footballer - the fact McCarthy has now chosen to twice extend his contract is just another example of his staggeringly low level of ambition.

We were woeful in the first half, playing hoofball and incapable of stringing two passes together. In the second half, when the shackles were off, I thought we played really well, keeping the ball on the ground and it showed what the players are capable of given the right management. As is the custom, we sat back in the last ten minutes and they capitalised on Chappell's mistake, when for the umpteenth time, he was knocked off the ball. I admit I am one of McCarthy's biggest critics but he was urging the players forward towards the end of the game so I don't think it was his tactics that led to the winning goal. I agree the sitting back could be a fitness issue as could the number of injuries we seem to sustain. It seems that whenever a player sustains an injury, he is out for weeks

After today's performance Chappell can be inducted in the Chester FC "Hall of Shame". He joins the likes of Rapley and Steven Vaughan.

Correct, it was pretty much as soon as it got to 2-2. Surrendering the initiative at home against a side on the backfoot (as Sutton clearly were) is extremely weak. If you are going to decide to sit back though, you then MUST ensure you see the game out. We couldn't even do that.

Agree with all of the above.
If Macca came out after the match and said in his interview, 'sorry .... I got the tactics wrong today', you could give him some credit, but as I said on another thread he's sounding more like mad Terry every time he opens his mouth. He completely doesn't see how he is destroying all the hard work that the likes of Mark Maguire are doing in increasing the budget. The contract extension was welcome at the time, but we have to be a bit more 'long game' and cover our arses when it all goes pear-shaped as it has now. I year extension would have been ample.

And by the sounds of it he'll be playing for a point at Aldershot. Get him out of this club, I want a manager who has ambition of getting us up and not just staying up, someone who wants to win football matches and not just happy with a point so c'mon Chester Fc board act now before its to late.
