So, lots of stick so far this season for our full backs. My question is, are the full backs of Chester a problem every single year, are are we leaving them too exposed?
Too many times we are narrow, and decent wide players are left to roam 1 on 1 with our full backs. In my opinion, there has to be a reason why we always seem to have issues at full back.
We know Mahon on his day is a good player, when out wide, but doesn't offer all that much for Halls in terms of assistance. On the left we have a central midfielder as first choice, who naturally will drift inside. The problem lies deeper than the personnel for me. For what it's worth i don't mind Halls or LRT as players, i don't think they'll set the world alight but they're conference standard full backs for me.

LRT and Halls are not as good as Hunt and Vassell. Yesterday was probably the worst performance by a pair of fullbacks I've ever seen

Again for me it's not the players but the way they are asked to play. We have always played with our full backs tucked in and they rarely seem to offer any attacking threat going forwards. That also allows 2 on 1's regularly down both our flanks if our wide players don't track back. You either change your tactics or you shorten/narrow the playing surface. I genuinely believe we have decent players, but a clueless manager. It is only a matter of time before that change is forthcoming. For me it should be now but the likelihood is he will probably get 3 games.

Yesterday was probably the worst performance by a pair of fullbacks I've ever seen Vassell is at a side who have 5 clean sheets already this season, helped by Penn who Wrexham fans raved about last year. He is one player we've missed given his defensive coverage, must have been a wage issue that meant we couldn't sign him surely. I still rate Halls though, solid enough mid table defender. We we're left so exposed against Macc it's hard to judge them on that.

I went to watch Crewe v Mansfield on the opening day when our game was called off and he wasn't in the squad. When I watched their full backs marauding forwards with pace, I couldn't see Hunt ever getting in. Still, positionally he was far better than either of what we have got. Halls has been dreadful so far and LRT is like a bus turning. However, you have to give them sympathy as they look shot of confidence and as if they have no idea what to do.

He's made the bench for them once, but has yet to play for Mansfield at all. Seemed a strange move. I'd certainly take him back, but he's not L2 standard.

Think he has gone for a decent wage and security over first team football. Hunt is miles better than this guy we currently have at left back, hunt obviously is a passionate guy with plenty to say which Macca didn't like. Same with Duzza who got a better reception than most of our own players that went off.

Yes JM sacrificed both of those players, who were better than we currently have because he lacked the ability to man-manage them.
