Almost as bad as a vote of confidence for me. McCombe, Mahon and Astles have all come out supporting the manager and saying blame is the players. At first this might seem admirable, but I think it's probably just down to the incredibly easy ride he gives them all. Of course they like the guy. They can turn up for one half every 4 games and still get told how fantastic they are.
Compare this with real managerial winners who will strip paint off their players and aren't in it to be popular and it's a huge difference. This is what our next manager should be like when we fail to win the next two games.

"It wasn’t a good feeling, we know we let ourselves down, let the gaffer down and let the staff down, we know we can play a lot better than that. We were disappointed.”
what about the fans whose money pays your wages!

Good to see more stuff coming out of the club saying it isn't good enough. Everyone is aware of the situation.
We didn't get enough of that last season.

How many times have we heard these interviews? I feel like Mahon has done about 6 of them over the last couple of years himself? Its standard cliches and soundbites and just something to fill space in a newspaper. Reporter rings up player to ask him about current form - well he's hardly going to rat his manager out and say the tactics are awful and he's lost the dressing room. Of course he'll play it safe and back him and say the players need to do better. Hardly worth reading anything into those interviews - if they truly back the manager then why do they look manically depressed every Saturday afternoon whilst camping in our own half against the likes of mighty Macclesfield Town? I'd rather hear nothing and just get on with working on things in training, or just keep quiet until the manager gets sacked!

I stopped taking notice of repetitive, banal interviews with players a long time ago. A complete waste of time and useful just to fill column inches. I would like to read something from the injured players though, telling us when they are likely to be fit. It's like the bloody Bermuda Triangle at this club when a player gets injured.

Mahon, Astles and now Mccombe. Absolutely bollocks. Why do all the players look so bloody miserable playing under these horror tactics employed by the manager.
Notice it's the two most popular players and the captain coming out talking as well as mouthpiece McGuire. As said above it's no wonder they are happy, he's a nice guy who never has a go at them, easy ride for them.

I ignore these interviews now, they're hardly going to come out and criticise him are they!
