Although the situation is yet another example of how amateur this league is, shouts for us to be awarded 3 points is a little far fetched. This isn't the Chester Sunday League (although it feels like it at times) it's the National League with masses riding on it. Imagine we stayed up by 1 point and it happened to come from points we had been awarded? I share everyone's frustration and I've no doubt there will be nothing more than another minor fine as a consequence, but let's be realistic!

I had thought of travelling from Bath-200 mile round trip-and if I had would be fuming. The club statement is full of flaws. They say pitch was inspected friday by a 'match official' (meaning?). Then match officials deem it unfit at mid day. Yet there was no more rain I don't believe and the photographs suggest that this is a bizarre decision. Its not the wettest time of year so what is it all about? I trust our club will put a very strong objection that requires serious investigation. We should also be compensated-fans and club. What a joke

I really feel for you that is a pathetic joke! If clubs can't be promoted due to ground grading issues and their pitch is clearly unfit for the lowest level of football there ought to be serious sanctions upon them, demotion even! At the Netdec today we had torrential rain before kick off, another deluge at half time and steady heavy rain after that. Our pitch took it and the game went ahead and was completed, there was a bit of surface water in the second half. Sadly we lost again and after being top three games ago (following promotion last season via the playoffs) we are sinking a bit!
Anyway I hope you batter Eastleigh when the game IS played, can't really see that terrible pitch being fit for many games through the winter mind!

That pitch won't see out the winter. The grass hasn't been growing and it's almost October.
Can see many postponements and now is not the time to be digging up areas of a pitch. Realistically if lots of postponements happen Eastleigh should lose their ground grading for the national league. Their pitch isn't up to standard. Promote a club with a proper pitch instead.

Cements my view that this is the least enjoyable league to play in in England. Any higher and it's a lot more professional, atmospheric and high quality, any lower and it's lot more relaxed and friendly. Not saying I want us to get relegated or anything but God, it's a tedious league! I don't know, we'd have a lot more fun in Conference North than we do in this league IMO.

I feel sorry for Mark Maguire as well as everyone else. He will probably be working hard again soon to get something out of this farce. Still, a disastrous day out for everyone who has travelled down and I am still livid by it. £60 coach travel down the drain 😉. Why always us?

On the plus side, we should be fresher than Woking on Tuesday.x Conversely we won't be "match fit".

I suspect it's an on going drainage problem they have if you think back to pre season and problems they have had with games this season. It seems they knew about potential problems last night hence the covered area. Surely they should be investigating why a decision wasn't taken until 2 hours before the game. It's a joke that they are throwing money about at the squad but can't get a reasonable playing surface. With no adverse weather beforehand they really should get the book thrown at them. This is the second time we've been hard done by this season. On what seems just incompetence. As far as Solihull were concerned this was the case if anybody wants to correct me on this assumption regarding today's game then please do. From the statement Eastleigh have issued it didn't need to be pulled with folk 40 miles from the ground surely? Of course we will now take a massive following there on a Tuesday night 🙄

Completely unacceptable today from Eastleigh, constantly assuring us (behind the scenes) that there were no problems, even as recently as 45 minutes before it was called off. We’ve now twice been shafted by village clubs in this division and their rubbish facilities this season already. I hate to miss a game, flew home 1,500 miles for Solihull last month and made a 450 mile round trip today on a £74 train ticket. What annoys me even more is a millionaire’s play toy like Eastleigh spunking money on ridiculous wages and vanity projects instead of the basics like a bloody pitch. This league is a joke, I’m sorry but they need to come down hard on clubs like Solihull and Eastleigh. This wasn’t bad luck, it was sheer incompetence.
Day wasn’t completely lost, I ended up diverting to take in Woking v Hartlepool, on a scouting mission ahead of Tuesday night! Woking started the better but hoofed a lot, Hartlepool took the lead against the run of play and grew in to the game after their goal, decent ‘away’ performance from them, looked a bit light up front, looked better later on when Rhys Oates came on with Devante Rodney. Thought Woking were poor to be honest, not much for us to be afraid of on Tuesday, they had their moments but their final ball was often lacking. Missed a sitter in the last minute when hitting the bar with the goal gaping. Fair do’s to the Hartlepool fans, 200+ of them there and didn’t stop singing, cracking bunch.
Anyway, annoying day, don’t know what will come of it, possibly nothing. Made something of it at least taking a game in, thought about going to Wimbledon or Millwall instead but was pretty much on Woking’s doorstep when I heard so it made sense, know my way around there as well.

I spoke to their groundsman just after the game was called off. The work in the week was intended to solve the drainage problem in that corner. The OK at 3.00pm on Friday must have been a close call as they protected the dodgy area from any rain. There was no rain on Friday night but when they removed the covers, there were pools of water on the surface. That should have set alarm bells ringing, but they chose to bury their heads in the mud.

When the game is replayed how about we all buy sponges and wave them in the air? Did think about pitch forks! Have posted on another thread similar sentiments to Anders and whether it's time we took a stand against these clubs. Would be interesting to hear people's thoughts.

Dear, Sir, Madam,
I am just one of a vast number of Chester Football Fans who feel disappointed, angry and indeed cheated by the last minute postponement of the match at Eastleigh on Saturday (30/7/17).
When matches are postponed because of extreme weather conditions it is quite acceptable but in this instance the pitch itself seems to have been unfit to play on and its not up to National League standards.
According to Eastleigh Football Club's statement the pitch was inspected on the Friday by 'an official' and deemed fit and yet on Saturday other officials deemed it unfit. The weather was not the cause. It raises obvious issues and unresolved questions about the pitch itself, communication and procedures. Fans from Chester were let down before as the first game of the season was also postponed after they had travelled to the match at Solihull.
Apart from the personal financial losses of fans and the disappointment and waste of time there are serious issues to be looked at by the National League, in terms of standards expected from National League Clubs both in terms of facilities and responsibilities to the fans. As a fan I would hope that the National League will take this particular postponement seriously, investigate it with vigor and decide on appropriate action against the Eastleigh FC that sends out a clear message to all the clubs.
Yours sincereley,

Everything about Eastleigh and its attitude angered me yesterday. "no further comment will be made", no mention of an apology to the fans like me stuck on a coach for hours, they don't give a s**t about fans, non of these money teams do. I have just emailed Eastleigh with an invoice for £30 for my coach travel yesterday. I don't suppose for one minute they will pay but it may be a source of annoyance to them if enough of us do this. It's time the league made a stand, not some piddling small fine but one that will hurt them, perhaps a percentage of their playing budget

I was shocked to see on the Eastleigh forum that a Ladies game was called off last Sunday due to safety concerns with the pitch, how on earth did they exspect the pitch to improve if they had no intention of repairing the problem area. With a weeks notice they could have switched the game to our place😡

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I may be with the old memory on the blink, but didn't Eastleigh end up a large backlog of fixtures a few years ago? I'm not sure if it was down to postponements as per yesterday or due to a Cup run or both but they certainly seem to have form in this matter. I can't remember the NL taking any action then and don't expect any this time. In fact I suspect they're keeping their heads down and banking on it all blowing over in the next couple of days. Whatever the reason, the response and implied attitude from Eastleigh to the postponement appears to be amateurish at best and, to use a popular word at the moment, incompetent at worst.
How many more incidents like yesterday need to happen before any action is taken? Unfortunately, my guess, is we could be waiting a long time

Have emailed Eastleigh and copied the National League. I have requested a response ('cos they don't do apologies), but won't hold my breath.
Might also email the NLP.
