Comes across to be internal wrangling rather than outside criticism. Think the time has come to have a fully clean sweep of whatever is left of the current board - and reappoint from scratch with ten NEW names who are willing to put themselves forward. No baggage from previous etc. Two problems - how that works and who/how many want to step forward. It is easier to deal with internal wranglings when you haven't got every Tom, Dick and Harry gobbling off on here or Twitter every five minutes. Don't for one minute think that the outside criticism hasn't been a factor. Of course it has. We were told the club was on its arse. As supporters we were given an opportunity to revive it. Some cranks, in their warped minds thought the way to do this was to question every single element. When what was needed was support and unity.

Something is festering in the boardroom and the directors need to put it out there now. It's fans time and money that keep this club alive the club is looking a shambles.

What on earth has respecting a manager with fuck all resources got to do with 2 board members resigning ffs Nothing at all. I respect him myself, whilst thinking it's the right thing he goes. It's just some tits in their frustration at the decision went beyond what is acceptable in voicing their opinions online. Is it too hard for people to understand we needed to back this board? That was a chance to save the club. I agree about the board but there's a few members like I said from the old board who need to let go and do one they're the reason this clubs in decline and they're the reason these new members have left if they were chester fans they'd do whats right and leave but why mention Bignot totally irrelevant

I'm sure O'Toole, the soliciter and friends are sitting reading their Torie weekly, sipping their pimms and having a lovely evening. Superb work guys. As O'Toole's Twitter previously stated he is a Labour voter. Not that it has anything to do with the current board members stepping down. Too many people on here talk about things which have absoloutely fuck all to do with the club, current situation or of any real importance. Put your time in to doing something about it rather than nitpicking. I stand corrected. What do you suggest I do? Should I go the games and support my team, putting my money and that of family members over the counter? As I have done. Or should I moan about things on Twitter and Facebook? Otoole, whilst being an honourable labour man I'm now informed has spouted an awful lot of nonsense online.

Questions need to be answered and an EGM called, this can't go on any longer, the end of the season we all want to come as quickly as possible may come too soon in terms of sorting out our own affairs.
That weezle from the Chronicle shit stirring is never going to help either. Hope he's happy.

That said, what he said and what others in their ivory towers have said online has been extremely hurtful to the club. For what it's worth I will never criticise a volunteer. I haven't even criticised those responsible for this mess because I genuinely believe they were led down the garden path by JM and MM, paid staff. What I am angry about is people's comments on media this week regarding board members and working party members.

See this is part of the problem. We are all chester fans, whether you agree with the board, the manager, whether you are Tory, labour, or any other political persuasion. It’s all irrelevant we need everyone pulling in the same direction, and if Simon has gone because of disagreements over direction with other board members, don’t the rest of the CFU and dare I see the rest of the fan base deserve to know what the opposing directions are to have. Debate and vote on. No animosity, no poo stirring, simply adult mature dialogue and due process. This just makes us look tiny pot, and frankly a slap in the face to everyone involved with the superb work done in collecting so much money in a short time.

It wouldn't be a new occurrence - Liam Davies was offered a contract extension without the approval of the board, as was Evan Horwood. Jon McCarthy was "unanimously" removed from his role without three board members even being made aware of it. Make of that what you will.

Surely the board have to ok the offer though? Aren’t the working group just volunteers? Yes, the BOARD have final say on it. Including the Financial Director who provides authorisation on any spend. It is not as simple as Calvin Hughes saying, oh we'll offer him a deal. The manager was asked who had the most potential out of the squad. He was told Astles and Dawson. Football Working Group put plans in place to offer deals for those players. THE BOARD APPROVED IT. No mention anywhere of the fact that the Football Working Group helped get Kingsley James and Paul Turnbull of the wagebill, saving us 1,000s. Oh no, some fucking snake inside the club instead tries a power grab move, spread a bit of shit about CH to a few people and the media to try and force them out. This club is now on its knees, again for the second time in a matter of weeks. Fuck the politics, this is about the future of OUR club. If we sit back and continue the bickering going on then you can kiss goodbye to fan ownership. Unite or die

I apologise for not being as vocal or contributing to most discussions as you all do, but tonight has really upset me, its embarrassing living in Wrexham and discussing my club at the pub, both in and outside the club, is becoming too toxic. I've had the pleasure of meeting both Simon and Mark, and they are two characters who will be missed and their contributions could have really been game changing.
In team sports, there needs to be a balance between supporter satisfaction, running a business, and results on the pitch. Evidently, the club is struggling to direct themselves in either direction. As Simon has a senior role in his full time job, and has an obvious love for his club, its not hard to understand why he was re-appointed. However, there is obvious underpinning of leadership internally. Over the last year, the direction of the club has not changed, after the redundancy of Mark Maguire, there are obvious problems that have remained at the club since his departure, suggesting he too may have been underpinned in decisions and become a scapegoat for some.
The Community Trust is fantastic, the Academy even better, we seem to have a long term partnership with MBNA, and even currently, we have an attendance better than most in the league, so externally we can suggest things are well. The problems are completely internal. Now we can speculate, as we all have, and seem to be correct here on devachat and other means, but the most transparent the board have been is disclosing out financial woes in January. Could we have foreseen this have been different if the communication channels were clear? If we, CFU members, received a monthly newsletter on how the basics of the club is developing, it would engage us fans to see what we are investing in week in week out. As owners, now excluding the occasional CFU meeting, only twitter and through newspapers is how the clubs communicate to us. You can understand why each board member has been appointed, due to their passion for Chester and football, but am I right to think there are no non-executive directors? We seem to have become so carried away with the idea of a fan model that the business aspect of football has been forgotten. The club needs someone who can suggest ideas, directions, or even run a business that is not affiliated with the club itself.
Underpinning leadership is not the direction the club should take, what business is successful without leadership? We need a figure who can relate to the fans and business side of operations, rather than individual aspects the board members are responsible for, while maintaining valid, sustainable, and most importantly, sane decisions that impact the club in the short and long term. Board members should respect this, and if not then they should nominate themselves for such a role so they can take responsibility for actions, rather than hide in the shadows.
Wrexham have proven this model is possible, maybe one day we'll even reach the dizzy heights of AFC Wimbledon! But for now, short term is key.
Like all of us, I cannot wait til the end of April, we need a clean slate, and develop step by step. Back to basics.

What more evidence do you want? Charlie fucking Croasdale snakes onto social media and accused a co opted board member of trying to kill the club, and tries to implicate Mark Howell in it as well. Despite what I've just bloody said above about any football working group actions being signed off at board level, and by the FD. As with any business, any spend must be agreed and signed off by the FD. The board approve the deals, so why do they/have they remained silent over the false allegations against CH?

My guess is this has been an internal fight between those believing external investment is the way to move forward and those fiercely defending the fans owned model. A decision on that is not up to any of them individually, it'd be up to all CFU members to decide upon seeing as we are supposedly a fan owned club. Directors are there to take the club in the direction the majority of members want and nothing else. They are our representatives. It's not for them to squabble over behind closed doors. The trend is to become a director at CFC and forget about everyone else. It feels like we are fan owned in name alone. The fact all this serious stuff is going on in so much secrecy only proves that. If we are to remain fan owned, we must be truly that. This current attempt is garbage. Absolutely nailed it.

Someone within the club wants CH out and FWG brought into the Ops board. Board reject the proposal. Someone resigns over it. Another person resigns over the treatment of CH. I don't give a shit now, too many people treating this football club like a piece in a game of chess. Too much backstabbing too many people with agendas of their own trying to outdo one another. This is not what I signed up for at the Guildhall. We all expected and wanted something better, where supporters worked together to create a fully inclusive football club for their community. What have we got instead? A board at odds with each other, and more resignations. When we look back in a few years time and ask where or why it went wrong for us, remember tonight. Tonight was pivotal in the downfall of this supporter owned football club.

Unbelievable. Our club is hitting a new low as the day goes by. Where are we going to pick up from now? Who is going to join the board? What is going to happen to our fan-owned status? Why have we got board members leaving the post after two months? How is this happening??
Really gutted for Mark and Simon, as right now I believed that we had a strong board who would finally get the fan-owned model correct. Firstly I applaud them for stepping onto the board during the most difficult of times, and they are both good people personally. However, we need a full inquiry onto what is happening. Obviously the sniping over the last week or so, apathy amongst the fan base, split opinions about fan/private-owned status and the Charlie Croasdale comments haven’t helped this at all. I honestly don’t care if Croasdale was on a night out. What he’s said, and the publicity it is now getting could damage our status. I wouldn’t be overly surprised if Calvin Hughes steps down over the coming days. I usually enjoy reading his match reports but he seriously needs to take a long, hard look at himself now. I am genuinely kicking myself now as I honestly don’t know how we are ever going to push on.
I was at the open meeting at the start of February. As soon as I came home, I said to myself that ‘’at last our club has got a bright future’’. Our board all introduced themselves properly and said what they are going to be working on. I was pleased at the time and excited to see what will lie ahead. Now though, if we have members of the board arguing on Twitter etc. and not posting on DC as much then we won’t have much of a future. Also, surely there is more to the current meeting being cancelled ‘’due to it being Easter’’. That excuse is pathetic because it’s not like that Easter has just came from nowhere, so these problems must’ve been known a week or so ago.
I’m coming to the point now where I personally think that we may not have a club one day. The Academy and Community Trust are both working wonders for us. They are our bright lights. However, on and off the pitch, this season in particular has critically killed us. If it was July 2017 now, who on here would’ve thought that it would get to this? Nobody. I can’t put into words how traumatic this campaign has been, both on the pitch and in the boardroom. I do fear that it will get even worse before it gets better, but I’m stunned with this news. I must thank Simon and Mark for trying their best for us in the toughest of times. Now though, questions need answering. The upcoming close season will be massive, and I mean that.

I'm missing something here. How can anybody other than the board offer someone a contract? Football working group Care to repeat to all what you said to me Danny? Who's the person been feeding you this info? What's their motive (or what was their motive) in all this? Why has that person gone sneaking off to Charlie Croasdale to gob off on twitter? The only person who has put the nail in the coffin of this club is him. Instead of putting differences aside, and working together for the good of the club and supporters. Too many games being played behind the scenes will lead to our ultimate destruction. And yet the finger pointing and blame game continues. I would ask Danny, who ensured the high earners were moved on ASAP saving the club thousands in the process? Was it our Chairman? Or was it Calvin Hughes and the Football Working Group?
