Yes, its quirky. Something about the old greyhound tracks are very evocative. Winsford, Bradford Park Avenue spring to mind. Also one during our early years in an Evo Stik cup game (Newcastle or Leek?). Just being miles away from the pitch isn't great, but the old blowers, the lights and the opposite stands make them interesting. Always good food at Winsford too, always essential for a straight from work night match. We did play at Leek in our early days back, think it must have been a cup game.
I didn't go, but I remember reports of the home fans singing "Ooh Ooh Chester Zoo" at us, which made me chuckle
It was a cup game. The players coach broke down at Leek's ground and they travelled home on the Hipkiss with the fans.

Not many seem botheted about this tour (if it ever materialises)?
Hope we end up in the IoM or Ireland for a week or so myself.

Hope we get one or two decent home friendlies to bring in some decent revenue. No disrespect to Carlisle, but I can’t see there being many for that one.

I hope we do but think we have to accept that as a club playing in the sixth tier that our chances of playing money-spinning friendlies are limited - last year’s game against Liverpool a rare exception. It either tends to be smaller Football League clubs or the development sides of those higher up the ladder - neither of which usually pull in the crowds based on past experience. Wouldn’t mind playing the likes of Tranmere and Crewe again though, which has happened previously in pre-season with reasonable attendances recorded (by friendly standards).

Went to watch a 'premier league' match at their national stadium in Douglas a couple of years back. Can't have been more than thirty people there and stadium was open so you could nip to maccies at half time. Think the match ended 6-2. Great fun.

They’re on a tour of the North West and we’ve offered them a game. I really admire the anti-discriminatory activism of their fanbase - they get big crowds for that league too.

Nice to play someone from outside the North West I think. Don't moan - go if you want to, don't if you don't. They're just practice fixtures and that should be a relatively competitive one with us both playing at the same level.

I think playing Dulwich is a very positive thing to do. Their landlords put them out of the ground part way through last season and they only got back towards the end of the season. They had a full house for their first game back which was about 3,500. Very big club back in the amateur days. I expect they've played at Wembley more than us too.

Excellent club. Glad to play them. Top of my list for away grounds to visit. Hope they reciprocate next year.

Normally, I don't do pre-season games unless it's a new ground to visit but I'll make an exception for Dulwich Hamlet. In 2010 after the demise of oldco, 3mm allocated a club to support to anyone who wanted one. I got Dulwich Hamlet and still look out for their results.

They really are a great community activist club - did a lot of work with Stonewall IIRC not too long ago, for example.

Are we really that financially sound now as a club we can afford to be missing out on the gate receipts from what will most probably be our biggest attendance pre season? Especially given that we aren't hosting Liverpool this season and we have lost chorley, Stockport and fcum as 3 of the biggest travelling sets of fans next season.

I presume you are referring to the Wigan game as a fundraiser for the KGV fund, in which case I’m inclined to agree with you.

Proper money spinning fixtures aren’t they!? 🙄
Seriously guys, we’ll struggle to hit 800 for any of these home fixtures.
I was hoping that any fundraising match’s for the proposed training facility would have been a more prestigious affair or an all star type game. But I really can’t see us making any profits for any of the home fixtures.
