Would rather wait for a fully fit Asante than rush him back to soon. We do have more than enough fire power especially if Matty Hughes resigns. Rush him back? The season ended at the end of April.

The usual suspects making random statements about players. The official line is (if you read the papers or listen to the news) asanti and Roberts picked up minor knocks in training. But will be playing on yhe mini tour And picking up more I bet 😉

Scored 9 goals in 11 games. So when he does play his goals record Is excellent.I think we have to accept he’s not going to play every game. But when he does play he’s a potent weapon.Weve got George Waring to Share the roll up front.I’m glad we’ve got Asante. Having mat him personally on a few occasions he happens to be a very nice lad. And really wants to be a success personally and see our club move in the right direction. If he is anywhere near right he will score 20 + goals for us. Tired of all the crap on here

Finding all of this a bit embarrassing to be honest - we've had one pre-season friendly. This is all very similar to the hysterics from the usual suspects about how James Alabi was apparently useless, despite being our top scorer, because "he can't win headers for a big lad"

From an injury perspective he fits into the Andy Carroll camp. No doubting that he is a better player than National North, when fit, and every bit as good as Ronaldo when they are both off the pitch injured. I don’t doubt the player one bit, but I do doubt whether Chester are financially able to justify the gamble they are taking on him. I use the word ‘doubt’ because I don’t know the facts of his contract.

Was it Jon Walters who came to us with a record of being injury prone? I don't know his contract either, but doubt we are breaking the bank on Asante. He got nine goals in half a season which is more than the likes of ever presents like Craig Hobson got in a whole one.

Asante will be fit before the start of the fixture list. During the summer break he has been working hard on his fitness, lost some weight. He looks very fit. He has a slight strain, his training is being monitored.(may have overdone the summer training) No good sending him into these meaningless friendlies, lets get him fit.

Same with one or two others who aren’t quite fully fit? Yeah it is. Probably after being out for so long little muscle injuries can crop up. Plus being sat on a coach for a few hours yesterday probably didn’t help. I’m not sure it’s a major issue.

Don't see why asante gets had a go at for injuries when the biggest culprit of all gets away with it Burton

Don't see why asante gets had a go at for injuries when the biggest culprit of all gets away with it Burton I'd hardly say Burton 'gets away with it'. Every time his name crops up he's accused of being a sicknote and spending too much time on the sunbed. Asante does at least get praise as well as criticism!

Wouldn’t have been sorry to see Burton go in the summer but for him being on a two year contract. Showed glimpses of what he is capable of but seemed to be constantly injured or a red card waiting to happen. And arguably the most one footed player I’ve seen. The management though seem to have every faith in him and he’s very much part of their plans.

I think it would be a good idea to just wipe the slate clean on all the players that some Chester fans love to hate, let it go and treat everyone like they are a new signings.

An outbreak of good sense here from Chesterken - there are so many examples of players needing time to settle or the team to start playing to their strengths before showing that they are good players. One from history - Derek Draper didn't shine in his first season with us (and he could never do anything right for my grandad - who would have loved Deva Chat) but went on to be a great. I also remember the same being the case for two players who I think we could do with now - Stuart Drummond and Nick Richardson.
Whatever is ahead for us this season I think it is certain that some will disappoint and some will succeed and exceed expectations - Jerry Springer homily over.
