Firstly I'd like to say the moron at Spurs derserves a lifetime ban of all football grounds and a heavy fine for racist chanting . Next I think rodega should of got a yellow card for his play acting getting son sent off yes son did kick slightly in his side but not in the chest where he was holding the way he was looking at the ref to see if son was going to be sent off said it all

Unfortunately, this country has gone back to the 1970's. Brexit has brought every Racist out and they feel empowered. Modern European country my arse.

Nice to see remoaners are still winging. 52-48...you lost. Take a look across the EU to see where real racism exists. Nothing to do with Brexit. Have a nice Christmas.

He was merely stating a fact that there has been an immediate sharp rise in race-motivated attacks (verbal, mainly) since the GE result - as there was in the immediate aftermath of the Referendum result. Your childish playground response offers nothing to the debate.

While I'm not big on politics being brought into the main forum, it's disingenuous to discuss racism in football without acknowledging the backdrop of Brexit and the increasing shift to the right in British politics. Iffy Onuora, the PFA's equalities coach, says racist incidents have increased since the Brexit vote. Statistics on hate crime back him up. Just after the election, there was something going round on Twitter about a female Derby fan who might have had slightly moppish blonde hair, claiming a load of Millwall fans started chanting pro-Boris Johnson songs and literally lifted her up. The reaction from a lot of football fans seemed to be that this was funny. I know not all Brexit voters and Tories are like this, but it's a sad truth that the politics of recent years has brought out a lot of people's true colours, and made those who never hid theirs more loud and boisterous than ever.

Something definatley needs to be done but why didnt we have all this reaction from the Media the FA and the government after the Haringey Borough v Yeovil game or is it only worthy of action because it was the premiershite that was involved this time, surely when it boils down to it a player in the lower regions of football is entitled to the same protection as the so called elite of the game.

Let’s not forget, of course, the absolute brass neck of our authorities to criticise other nations.

Whilst I don't hold with the views above about Brexit / Election result being a catalyst for racism I can see that perhaps some white British straight males may now feel that some sort of normality may return and that they can apply to be a future Paul Evans.

Allegations of racist and homophobic abuse in the Brighton v Chelsea game yesterday.
I don't know about these particular incidents, but I know Chelsea have recently complained that the term 'rent boys' some fans direct at them is homophobic and Kick It Out has backed them up on this. Not sure it is myself - a rent boy could have a female landlord in theory, and you could argue that to assume only males get involved in that sort of thing is homophobic in itself. I've always thought the nickname is more to do with a perception that the club is always in debt to someone and the fans sell themselves out.
Then again, it is 2020 and maybe it's time some fans cleaned up their language and grew up a bit.
