Been brilliant today Thomas is going to be such an impact too. He wasn't brilliant and he definitely wasn't mom. This.

Was heavy rain when I tuned in after the blues stream. Does look like it was to do with the weather, but would you really abandon it on 96 minutes? If you can’t play the game you can’t continue so the ref obvs has no option but to abandon. Up to the league now to decide what happens regarding the game being replayed

Deserved win with a reasonable performance, certainly going the right way at least. Allowances for the heat are fair.
First half was boring with nothing happening but the second was more lively and thought the introduction of Thomas woke us up. Weeks looked lost in the first half, felt like he was sulking a bit but improved after the break and got himself much more involved. Didn’t have a great view of the penalty but we should have had one earlier when Thomas was brought down.
Sparrow looked quite good, decent cross on him but his inclusion pushed Coates to left back and whilst he coped, he did look uncomfortable. Maguire did well in a short space of time. Seen Evans a few times now and I don’t see what he brings other than running around a lot.
Until they made changes thought Blyth were awful but they looked a bit more dangerous after that.
Ref was a tit.

The win was more important than anything else today. Overall I wasn’t impressed with us against very ordinary opposition. We started with good intentions- both fullbacks were pushed well forward and there were a few balls over the top- but we soon reverted to backwards sideways with no runners up ahead. The heat must have been a factor there. The ref made some very strange decisions including the penalty unless someone closer had a better view . Two up top definitely better than the lone striker but we still lack a creative plan , a system for the final third. Would like weeks to deliver the ball quicker instead of waiting for the killer pass but most of the time there’s nothing on forward.Sparrow was impressive at fullback very accomplished. Overall I think we got lucky not convinced we’re going to set the league alight unless we change the system for the final third.

Been brilliant todayThomas is going to be such an impact too. He wasn't brilliant and he definitely wasn't mom. Weeks has been poor these last 2 home games, and not really above average in any game this season. The club really need to have someone else pick MOTM apart from Declan's family each game. Coates, Roberts and Williams were stand outs today, as well as Stanway even though he didn't really have very much to do.

Thought Whitehouse was our best player and Edwards made us more solid at the back. I'm a massive Matty Williams fan, but thought he was below par today. Roberts was very poor on Tuesday and better today, but really off the pace last 20. Coates did well first half, but was another who faded. Thought Thomas and Maguire gave us good impetus when they came on. Good to see Taylor back. He'll make a difference.

Weeks was so hard working, defending one minute, disrupting play in the middle another and then chasing down the goalkeeper. He's up and down the pitch and made the assist for the goal. A few misplaced passes here and there perhaps but he gets so many touches it's not surprising. He'd be incredibly hard to replace. I don't really care if he's motm or not but let's at least appreciate how crucial he is to the team. Thought Thomas did well when he came on. Undecided about Sparrow as right back I think I prefer Coates' all round play there. But he did put in a couple of decent crosses.

Caton MOTM for me. Took his goal really well and caused them a lot of problems particularly in the 2nd half. Weekes has a good 2nd stanza but not enough to justify the, now obligatory, MOTM award. Midfield was much better than Tuesday .(not difficult), Murray did himself no harm for a starting spot. Not convinced by Stanway - granted he didn't have a lot to do but a least twice he fumbled the ball off his chest when attempting to gather; here's hoping the new GK has a positive effect.
All in all, pleased with the performance and 3pts (and the IPA in the bar!)

He did make two incidents look like he was catching soup.
Fortunately he recovered both times.

Probably spoilt a bit with Tyrer last season; he's young and will improve though. Plus points are he's half decent with the all at his feet but his ball gathering skill were found a bit wanting today (pretty sure he did something similar on Tuesday).

Calum must have given them a rocket after the equaliser as the difference in how we tried to close out the game before the equaliser and after the winner was like night and day.
How big was that miss straight after their equaliser - the one where everyone ran under the ball from the corner?

So much better today, really pressed Blyth high, and stopped them being able to play their passing game. Murray had a good game, was very impressed with Sparrow, was a bold move for Cal to put him at RB and switch Coates to the left. But it worked. I'm afraid Heywood was at sixes and sevens Tuesday night so Cal had to do something. When Taylor is back, I expect Sparrow to rotate in midfield with Roberts and perhaps Whitehouse. I prefer the 4-4-2 with a diamond in the middle. Need to play Caton and Thomas as a proper two forwards rather than Thomas on the wing. Weeks looked like he'd had a rocket, his assist was excellent. What I was really pleased about was how we were going for a second goal when we were 1-0 up. I thought it was a pen, the guy barged into Whitehouse whilst he was in the air going for a header. Both teams barely tested the keepers yet scored with the few shots on goal they had. Although we absolutely dominated, we had very few shots. Fortunately, we ground out a good result, really needed those three points. Well done lads for putting in a decent shift in such hot weather and getting the win!

Bloody hell he's a national league North player not a premiershite keeper of course he will be a bit "wanting" in certain areas he will improve with the right coaching and could well be a great asset to us

Really? No shit?! Thanks for clearing that up. I thought I'd gone the Emirates this afternoon. I'm pretty sure I said he would improve, was young and hoped the new GK coach would have a positive effect. I didn't realise it was verboten to mention any mistakes a player might or might not have made. Sorry, I'll do better..... 🤐

Decent debate until some moderator who never goes to games weirdly decides to lecture someone who was actually at the game about a players performance.

Tyrer was probably the best keeper we have had seen Stowell. And it was absolutely right for Stanway to go out on loan for a season to aid his development. Like most of this very young squad they will all get better with experience and games. However, Stanway remains head and shoulders above the Gray's of this world.

I think that back 4 + Stanway is the way forward although I prefer Coates on the right, where he's much more threatening. Edwards is growing into a rally decent, assured CB (at this level...must remember to mention that). Oh for everyone being critical of Weekes remember: he's not a Prwmiwr League player or the second coming of Lothar Matteus (just so you don't fall foul of Stating-the-bleeding-obvious Police)
