We're back at it today as we take on Blyth at home. Another must win after the poor start we had.
2-0 - 2,367

If Blyth are like last season they'll pass the ball for fun. If we do the same, it could be like a preseason game in this heat.
0-1 with 2230. Hoping I'm wrong and just being over pessimistic.
On the other hand, we could be more direct to counter their passing game. Could mean far less possession and it will be difficult without the ball in this heat. Cal will get it right.

Really need a win today. Need a shake up of the team imo. Underperforming players dropped. I would go for a straightforward 4-4-2. Tell the guys to be positive and take the game to Blyth. A few shots on goal would be good! My team would be:
Stanway Coates. Edwards. Burke. Sparrow (or Taylor if fit) Whitehouse. Roberts. Maguire. Glendon (or Thomas if Glendon not fit). Caton. Evans.
On the bench I would definitely have Goodson as he has done nothing wrong, but not really been given a chance to do anything right!
Positivity. Energy. Speed.
3-0 to the Blues 😉

I really hope we start quickly like against Farsley. We're at home and need to take risks.
I'll go 1-1 with 2003 in the crowd - Weeks for us.

Blyth’s footballing approach may be more to our liking than when we play some of the more physical sides in this league. When they came here last December their passing was impressive but they lacked punch up front. Not sure how much they’ve changed personnel-wise given their good start to this season.
Will go for a 2-0 win. Weeks and Caton to score.

Though the talk of starting positively is important, we shouldn't overlook the fact that we've lost most of our points in the last 10 or even 5 minutes of games. I worked out the other day that we'd be 4th or 5th at the moment if our games ended on 80 minutes. Whether it's fitness, concentration, the wrong subs or whatever, it's very different to how we were last season.
Think we'll win narrowly today. Even allowing for the poor result and performance on Tuesday, we've been good at home so far.

We were very poor on Tuesday night in what was our worst display of the season. Big improvement needed today if we want to return to winning ways, and it is a must-win because to lose four matches already is not good enough at all. We’re in a worse position than this time last year, without the goalscoring threat of Kurt Willoughby, so I am starting to get a tad worried. Blyth Spartans have been one of the surprise packages thus far, having won five out of their opening eight, so they’ll arrive at the Deva full of confidence today. I’m pretty sure we haven’t lost back-to-back home games under Calum McIntyre, so hopefully we’ll get a strong reaction as we have to start climbing the table sooner rather than later.
Score - Chester FC (Williams, Hall, Evans) 3-1 Blyth Spartans (McNall).
Attendance - 2,135 (81 Blyth Spartans).

A question with today's game and heat in mind, I remember the club publicising this at one game last season, but are we still able to get water bottle refills in the refreshment outlets?

Glendon, Hall and Heywood out of the squad, Sparrow makes his 1st start Interesting that Weeks gets the nod ahead of Glendon (unless it’s an injury?) Looks to me maybe more like a lineup from last season, 4312 with Evans and Caton up top, Sparrow in at LB. No Hall, Glendon or Goodson in the squad is surprising but good to see Taylor make the bench at least

Not worth the risk
