Dave Artell and Paul Linwood John Kelly John Kelly was class, very under-rated. Saw him some years after he left us, playing for Oldham at Bournemouth. Still had it.

Brian Crofts (Joe's wine bar) 85-88. 59 (3) 89-92. 114 (3) 2000. 0. (0) Brian Croft was a box of tricks. Short in stature with almost white blonde hair. He always seemed to score in the FA Cup. In the run we had in '86-'87 he scored the winner from a very tight angle in the second replay against Rotherham United (before the days replays got settled on pens) which set us up for that nice little cup run where we beat Wrexham in the snow and finally went out to Sheffield Wednesday in the fourth round replay. In the 1990-1991 season he also scored two in two minutes to bring us level at home to Bournemouth when we were exiled in Macclesfield. One sailed in with the wind from almost the halfway line. Sadly Bournemouth then scored again beating us 3-2. I believe it remains the lowest ever FA Cup 3rd round attendance for any club. Just checked, only 1,833 in attendance. The pub at the corner of the ground was like the wild west before the game.

Peter Donnelly off the Lache, played one game in the season we were sponsored by Chester Engineering. Funnily enough Peter worked at Chester Engineering!
Can't remember what year it was but I think it was the season of the amazing comeback against Bolton (Phil Harrington in goal?) and then perhaps Leeds in the next round?

John Danby. Solid.
Some people love to hate him, despite his record breaking minutes of clean sheets.
Probably didn't get paid for playing for Chester City in our last season, and still came back 💙

A good keeper in both a struggling and a winning team.

(0) Forgot about Brian Croft coming out of requirement to sign under Ian Atkins, although I think he was only really registered as an emergency player. At the same time, we also signed a player called Alejandro Di Bartolo, who think was Argentine. He never played either, the only reason I remember is he was included in the Chester squad in Championship Manager the following season and was a good player in it!

Might be a contraversial ones but I always liked Spencer Whelan and Joe Jakub also David Pugh doesn't get a mention much on here what a team that was

Arthur Albiston never gets mentioned. Had a couple of seasons here and was really solid. Always remember his cries of "awayyyeeeee".

Doubt any will be spoken of as highly as Grenville Millington who was in the sticks before my time, but Billy Stewart, John Danby and Wayne Brown were cracking keepers. Hopefully Stanway can stick around and join that highly thought of group.

anyone remember Jim Walker…a marauding full back with a sweet left foot and a tackle that could kill from five yards away?

Playing when I started watching. That was a team. Yes, the Alan Oakes era. I may have known this in the past and forgotten it but Oakes was the uncle of former Chester player Chris Blackburn.

I seem to remember him responding to fans throughout games and even occasionally miming taking off a giant top hat. It sounds bonkers now I'm typing it but I swear I wasnt dreaming. Wales number 1.

Pretty sure it was Felgate who would take an imaginary dog for a walk around the penalty area when we were winning, to show how little he had to do.

Yes he would pen sheep during quiet spells in the game. Great character and great keeper. He was outstanding on St Milner's Day (9 men and you can't beat us).

Last one from me and he only played a handful of games but he, imho, contributed greatly in our very very nearly Great Escape season under Ian Atkins.
