Only result I wouldn't be happy tonight with is a draw. Stil can't not want us to win so I'll be happy if that happens but if we lose they really have to act and we can hopefully get a decent manager in.

Don't know how much truth is in this but no win tonight could be Déjà vu for Mr McCarthy as the board wanted 5 points minimum from 3 games so our loss at Macc draw at Torquay leaves him short

The board are interested in him hitting his 10 match target and failure to do this could lead to his dismissal. So i think he will have a minimum for two more games before any assessment is made. A win tonight, and i believe he will be on target for 12-14 pts which is probably the goal.... To be honest, most of us would be chuffed it we turned this crap around and went and won the next 3. However it is incredibly unlikely, and a loss tonight looks grim for us! Desperate for a win.

However it is incredibly unlikely, and a loss tonight looks grim for us! Desperate for a win. JMc said at the Squad builder meeting in April that he thought he could improve on last season's 10 points from 10 games start, by week earlier start to preseason. He wanted 15 from first 10. Based on that I'd be surprised if he was sacked if we achieved 10+ from the first 10. They'd want a clear points difference from the target. Assuming the minimum is 10. Sacked for 9 would appear harsh just on that basis. I really hope we don't lose tonight. We need all the points we can get. However, if we do lose, it maybe better if we get stuffed 5-0 rather than 1-0. That might bring things to a head, and the Ebbsfleet game might finish it off.

I hate to say this, because it goes against everything that I've always believed in since my first game in 1960, but the best result tonight will be a heavy defeat to Solihull, which sadly should result in the trigger being pulled. Everyone can then get behind the club and whoever the new management team are and we get back to being entertained and securing our place in this league beyond this season.

I don't get the idea our own fans would want us to get beat tonight. I want JM to get the boot as I feel the quality or lack of on display and results over an extended period certainly warrant it but I will never want us to get beat. If we lose tonight as some of you think would be beneficial to expedite the sacking what reproccusions does that have on the season. Regardless of the managers situation I feel tonight is a must win game for us as we can not afford to be losing to teams who will be in season long relegation fight. It will cost us dear come the end of the season. Saturdays game was definately 2 points dropped given how poor Torquay are this season so we simply have to win tonight. I'm going for a 2-1 win with Dawson and Hannah but can see us coming from behind to do it. Need to be right at from the first whistle.

In disbelief reading that Chester fans want us to lose tonight. Embarrassing stance. You should be ashamed of yourselves

I think the result tonight could depend on whether McComb and Astles are fit - what sort of manager goes into a season with only 4 defenders.

It is a worry - if neither are fit I guess Rowe-Turner and young James Jones will start at CB? Could be a blessing in disguise if Jones is the next Sam Hughes though.

I'd guess James or Turnbull would drop to CB and Dawson would go to CM. Could mean Chappell has to start at RM.

McCarthy must think it's Christmas. He's got at least two excuses to spout in his post match interview already. "The rains made it really difficult for us to play our free flowing football and we're without one of our first choice centre backs"

Solihull (0) 1 - 4 (1) Chester. Goals, James, Dawson, Mahon and Hannah. Attendance 502 Right, I like your style so I've backed that score at 40/1

Sheron thrown straight into the team. Good luck to him, I hope he does well tonight but it shows a desperate manager.

I'd have moved Rowe-Turner into the centre and given Waters a go at left-back, but not going to complain about the addition of a defender. Good luck to the lad.

No akintunde? Joyce and Chappell starting again? Great I saw Aki pull up with his hamstring again at Torquay, I was surprised he was kept on until the middle of the second half. I suspect he came back from injury too early.
