That was very evident amidst a shocking display last night that we have little or no pace in the current squad. Like you say we have some on two year deals. And there may not be much to work with for whoever comes in. Agreed I think it's important that we get someone who is going to trust the players to express themselves and play.

I wouldn't even waste my breath trying to tempt the likes of Justin Edinburgh, Richard Money, Gary Hill and Graham Westley to come up here. Well, they're all out of work, and might well have to look into non-league for their next job. I think they're more realistic suggestions than Askey, for whom I can't think of a single good reason why he'd want to leave Macc to come here. Granted but Edinburgh, Money and Westley would not up sticks from down South to manage a part- time Northern Conference Club with next to no budget, let alone dropping down a couple of Leagues (would you?). If they had to drop down to Non-League to find their next job then it would be down there. The same goes for Gary Hill. All the Southern based Managers mentioned on here are not realistic and defiantly not logical or affordable in my opinion. Your reason behind Askey not coming here is exactly the same reason why we won't get any of Edinburgh, Money, Westley, Hill or any other Southern based Manager mentioned.

Andy Holden is an appealing choice but it seems that he sees Flint as his retirement home.

I like the sound of Chris Piercy.

My shortlist, in order of who we should contact first. John Askey - we all know how well he does at Macclesfield, believe he is only on a one year rolling contract so wouldn't be too much compensation. He applied for the Wrexham job so potential for him to leave. Marcus Bignot - did very well at Solihull with a small budget, recurred good young lower league talent, I.e Omar Bogle, who got them £££. Moved into League 2 at Grimsby, hit his targets for the season and their fans were generally happy with him, however sacked due to issues in the dressing room (?). Plays football suited to this division which would work. Graham Barrow - being young I'm probably not the best to explain this choice! However he'd definitely be a positive appointment met with a largely delighted fanbase. Afraid it doesn't work like that at our level people will be asked to apply so anyone who is already contracted to another club at this level would not be considered as we could not afford the compensation, it may work at a lower level as some clubs cannot afford long contracts so may agree to an approach from a club higher up the pyramid. Afraid it doesn't work like that as they don't have to apply to get it

The compensation for JM could set us back years in terms of growing the budget. We'd only be paying about 8 months compensation.
