Can't wait to see how his first game goes! I am predicting a new managers curse for Maidenhead and 3-0 to the blues! Am I right in thinking Christian Smith plays for these? Or is that Maidstone? The old conundrum! Ha ha

I'm really intrigued about today's game (and excited because it's not the JM era). Even though he's only been in post for 72 hrs, I think we might see the first green shoots of the Bignot philosophy. After all, he says he's seen all of our games so far and he seems to know exactly where the problems are and what he wants. Of course, I'm not looking for instant results but I'm simply curious as to:
1. How MB sets the team up, particularly defensively 2. What tactics he employs including game management 3. Who is or is not in the team (does he see a role for an "unpopular" player (no names)?) 4. The role of White given the Solihull connection 5. The players attitude - new manager "bounce"?, if so what was going on beforehand? 6. The crowd's response depending on how the game progresses etc. etc.
In other words, this is so much more than a "regular" game, there's so much more to look out for.
That said, this will not be easy, Maidenhead seem a half-decent team. However, I think a long overdue win could well be in our grasp today so I'm going for a 2-1 win
If we do win, let's not go overboard. If we don't win, let's not go overboard.
As long as we're competitive and "in the game" throughout, that will be some element of progress and would bode well for the future.
P.S. Only a couple of weeks to the Tranmere game. I'm much more confident of getting a result there than I was a fortnight ago - really looking forward to it!

I'm hopeful of a repeat of Burr's first game in charge, where we beat Barnet 2-1 in the last minute. He'd only been in charge a day or two but we were solid, full of energy and the crowd got right behind it.
I think today is a huge opportunity to kick start the season. The crowd will be behind the team and MB's appointment will give the players a bit of confidence. I'm going 2-0 Chester.
In terms of the crowd, I still think we'll struggle to break 2K. It'll take time to tempt people back to the ground after our dismal run but the way to do it is better results and more positivity in our play. I think 1820 will be there today.

The old conundrum! Ha ha Correct. He is travelling up and in the squad today. He’ll get a good reception. He’s tweeted about coming back to the Deva!

2100 on the nose. It's the giveaway initiative for clubs and schools, so that should bring in a few. 2-1 win - Hannah and Mahon

Been looking forward to this since MB got job, but I've got a horrible feeling that it will get worse before it gets better, so I'm staying at home. Last weeks defeat at Dover was so shocking to watch. Good luck Blues.

You have to be there, if only to see if there's been any affect on the team. Actually I agree with regarding any improvement, but I wouldn't miss, just in case. Just have an extra pint to numb the pain!

Shaw to start. Not sure whether he's fit enough to start after not playing so far this season.

At last Shaw starts!!
Like a new signing - One of the many mistakes McCarthy did was having Shaw standing next to him rather than playing!
Feeling optimistic as I leave the house - 3-1 to Chester (Hannah x 2 & Shaw)
COYB!!

Agree, I'm pretty sure I'm on record on here as saying it was a bad idea to take Shaw out of the team and into the dugout. If McCarthy was to carry on at all after last season it needed to be with an experienced assistant alongside him and not by depleting the side further. No objection to Shaw holding a coaching role, but we need him in the team.
