I think the decision to appoint Marcus Bignot through the proper process has been the right one. Similarly I would have been content with Barrow, but he is not guaranteed success either.
The proof will be in the outcomes at the end of the season as to whether he succeeds or not. No appointment can guarantee this, but the process will have dropped the no chance candidates.
This decision has been made for all the right reasons.
There are some, like whopper 3, who will never be happy, either because they are trolls or they are just unhappy people.
For my part I will just get behind the team and support them because it is my club, and support the current manager as his success is the clubs success.

Congratulations. You've created the most embarrassing thread in Deva-Chat history. Strange, strange man.

Bloody hell, the negativity here is hardly the way to start. If you do have concerns (and you may well have legitimate ones) then may be keep them to yourselves for now in the interests of getting behind the manager and supporting the team. Or are you looking forward to your 'I told you so' posts?

I think it's easy to misjudge the levels of negativity. It's really just two members of the forum making a lot of noise.

"in any other job you would get the sack for talking about your employer the way whopper does online, voluntary position or not. does the club not have a social media policy that staff have to sign up to?"
Manchester Blue
You need to grow up son. I don't get a bean for volunteering at the club a couple of days a week. Not even petrol money. As far as signing up to any social media your having a laugh I take it ?
How much of your time do you give to the club for free like me ?
In a free society I am entitled to my opinion and in my humble opinion Maguire is incompetent and should go immediately.

"This thread is pretty embarrassing
Maybe we should have appointed whopper, he seems to know everything about everything...."
Kyle old son I have never said I know everything about everything. I merely post my views on here which I am entitled to do in a free society. Isn't this what a forum is for ??
If you don't like my views then don't read my posts. It is that simple.

He (Bignot) has presented himself well in an interview on the BBC website. He appears to appreciate our model and is hungry to become successful. I know they are only words but day by day I think the right decision was made in the appointment.

Just because you say he's a bad appointment, it doesn't make it so. I know you're actively trying to irritate people, but he's the manager now so I'd suggest getting over it?

I think the Board of this fan owned club have an amazing ability to treat the fans with contempt. As such, it is not surprising that people express worry. Under McCarthy the club has been heading rapidly towards relegation, with repeated claims of how wonderful McCarthy was at the community side of things. An urgent need for a manager focussed on avoiding relegation is already being met with comments on how good Bignot is at the community side of things. Having been well and truly shafted by ridiculous contract lengths for Burr and McCarthy we desperately needed a sensibly cautious contract length for Bignot. i.e. Until the end of the season. What do we get? Nobody knows because once again the famous wall of silence descends ! Fair to say I'm totally sick of this attitude towards me as a fan, so I'm happy to support Whopper 3 in his contempt for the board and Maguire. All because I'm denied simple honesty and openness. "Trust us" my arse. Look at the past few years. How can anyone trust them?

The state of some of you lot on here.
We all knew McCarthy needed to go, now a load of you are having a go at the board again for not releasing details of a confidential contract negotiation that is STILL ONGOING with the new manager?
How do some of you manage to cope with everyday life!??
Unbelievable

We do have more than our share of negative posters I just feel that as soon as the first mistake is made on the pitch people are going to grown and moan just like they did with JM, we have to start like this is the first game of the season or the negative atmosphere will get to the players, Come on you blues.

Every managerial appointment is a risk. If you look at what Bignot did at Solihull, not just on the pitch (although winning the conference north then consolidation in the Prem isn't to be sniffed at) but also off the pitch where he did a lot of community work, helped set up youth teams and built the club up locally, he's a great fit for Chester as a fan owned club, particularly one who have struggled recently to engage the local populace. Even if you are unsure give him a few games before writing him off eh lads? Good post. We must give Marcus our full support but I must admit that I don't share the euphoria of some on here about his appointment. As you say he did a great job at Solihull but the fans comments on Grimsby's forum, many of which are similar to our comments about McCarthy, gives me cause for concern. Only time will tell, I just hope he dispels any doubts otherwise we are well and truly in the brown stuff. Agree with this Billy. But as you said lets get behind him .

Will Richard be representing JM in his quest for future employment? Sure he would write him a fantastic reference. Today epitomised just how bad things actually were.No excuses, no negativity - just a proper football manager getting the best out of a half decent squad. Something the 'master' couldn't manage.

Time to move on Tarvin or are you going to remind me of my support of the previous incumbent every time we get three points? Actually, on reflection, I hope that is every game for the next 7 months or so😁

Exactly my point. I have to rely on hearsay and gossip on this site because the wall of silence is there again. If what you say is true surely a polite confirmation by someone at Board level would be nice. It's a fifth tier football club for goodness sake, not the Oval Office in secret talks about North Korea.

A truly appalling and shameful managerial record, and unfortunately influential views such as your own only served to unnecessarily prolong McCarthy’s failed regime and the suffering for Home fans ! But I am sure Marcus is grateful for your support in efforts to put right the mess left my your Friend . He has made a great start, and achieved more in 72 hours than McCarthy did in almost 9 months.
