My heart says someone like 1874 Northwich or Osset at home, but my head thinks that we will get drawn to Guiseley away. I hope the first comes true, then get an away tie against a big club away in the next round.

We haven't had a single 'easy' FA Cup draw since reforming. I think Stockport are the only club from a lower division at the time that we've played, although both Alty and Southport would end up being relegated at the end of the seasons we got knocked out by them. Would hope for once the draw is very favourable, but not betting on it on past evidence!

Home to the lowest ranked team is what I want. It's absolutely crucial that we get ourselves into the hat for the first round proper this season. Then let's see where that takes us. We've had our fair share of disappointment in the cups since reforming (and I don't class the Cheshire Cup as an honour to be brutally honest) so it's about time we have a change of fortune on that side of things. Cup run a few seasons back was great for the club. Playing League clubs again, winning at Southend, getting a plum draw in the second round, getting a more than respectable result at Oakwell before losing in the replay, it all gave the club a good amount of National coverage and shone us in a very good light. Hopefully we can do the same again this season.

Couple of interesting results from the northern part of the draw
Stockport 3-3 FCUM attendance over 3,000 Nantwich 3-1 Nuneaton Stafford 1-1 Telford 1874 Northwich 2-2 Ossett Harrogate Town 0-0 Bradford PA
also from the south (maybe)
Hereford 2-0 Hornchurch

Stockport were 3-0 up at home to FC United at half-time before drawing 3-3.

It's regionalised so no chance. Nantwich or Buxton would be decent draws. Rather not have a trip to South Shields or Gateshead.

As a Chester Fan living in Truro I would be delighted! I did go and watch Truro beat Sudbury 4-1 today so as it's still regionalised will settle for a home draw v Torquay.

South Shields knocked York out didn't they? Again, I reiterate my earlier comment. Lowest ranked team at home. Worst possible draw would be Nantwich IMO. Cheshire Derby and the game is romanticised but it's a real banana skin and seeing them, rather than us, the pride of Cheshire, in the hat for the 1st Round, would be a kick in the bollocks.

Crewe not in the first round? Crewe are guaranteed a 1st Round spot, they ain't getting it at our expense is the point I was trying to make. Anyway, who's to say that Crewe are the pride of Cheshire anyway?! Best team currently yes, I'll give them that.....

Lowest ranked team definitely in the next round is Shildon from the Northern League, which is the ninth tier. However it's generally accepted that teams in that league are pretty good and just choose not to apply for promotion because of travel costs.

I wouldn’t give them pride of Cheshire either, I just meant that Nantwich are far from it.

Ideally we could do with the easiest possible draw to get to the 1st round proper. I've got funny feeling that we will get an away tie at the Shay 🙄🙄

I said last week my preference was an away weekender at the winners of the York v South Shields tie. Looking forward to getting MORTAL and TASHING ON...

I've heard there's a small patch of water in one corner of the room but the cleaner thinks it will be fine, so nothing to worry about.

Just a thought
If we did end up with a home tie against a "lesser" club, would this be the ideal opportunity to capitalise on the feelgood factor around the club at the moment and "go hell for leather" for a bumper crowd i.e reduced admission, group discounts, matchday entertainment, decent promotion etc etc
Couple this with a "comfortable" win (hopefully), strong performance etc and we could do our standing locally a power of good.
We would have time to do this if a) we wanted to and b) we acted quickly
Like I said, just a thought!

But I suppose it comes down to the old dilemma, crowd of 1,000 paying £15 against 2,000 paying £10 or any variation in between

Bobbly pitch and too many back passes to the goalkeeper ended with our keeper kicking a back pass straight at Danny Hettersley to score the winner for Lancaster.
