Having watched chester a fair few years i've noticed this season the atmospheres been really poor and the numbers in the harry mcnally terrace are getting lower and lower, does anyone know why this is ? Could do with getting the noise going again, its been really quite this season hopefully tranmere at home will be loud! COYB

This post couldn't have come at a better time.
As we speak, me and many others are currently planning massive changes to the Harry Mac next season.
We have just created a massive group trying to get people to return.
We are going to be investing in big banners, flags, streamers etc.
I was one of the few in the middle singing all game today trying to create an atmosphere, we want to try and get it back to how it was 13/14 season. We are very determined to try and get it back this way.

This is just a start- next season we want to better this, we are already pricing up getting a big flag along the bottom of the stand about 20ft x 5ft. The main lad I am planning all this with next season cant remember the persons name who had all sorts of flags and is trying to track him down. He said he'd make a deva chat account to try and track them down so you may see that soon. That goes for anyone though, if you know someone or are someone who owns Chester flags/banners, can you please get in touch so we can get the flags and banners in use for next season!

It has been disappointing seeing gaps in (the Kop) this season, and it would be great to get some atmosphere going. I started going to Chester matches seven years ago and at almost every match there were drummers and big flags behind the goal. COYB.

The huge banner will cost about £70. The drum a similar price. That's £140.
Cannot even believe I'm saying this but our amazing chairman Alan Povey has messaged me saying he will personally donate £20 towards. What a bloody guy he is.
I will set up a gofundme if there's enough interest.

Shaun the flag man. Haven't seen him for a couple of years. Is he the person who had the flags on sticks being waved at the front of the Harry Mac? If so that's the person my mate is trying to track down to get hold of all the flags.

It greatwhat you are attempting to do - I've stood on Harry Mac since it was built and this season it has been noticeable in its huge gaps especially Lowe middle - however no amount of drums streamers blow up dolls are going to make up for lack of human presence - this is due to the dullness of the action on the pitch I'm considering not going to forthcoming fixtures if this negative attacking football continues its mind numbingly tedious

Listen. We can't complain it's looking empty then go on to say I might stop going myself. What we need to do is the opposite - what me and my mates are currently doing; trying our best to get people to come back and get behind their team. Vocally too. We're a small club and fan owned so the fans sticking together is so so crucial to us. CTID.

If so that's the person my mate is trying to track down to get hold of all the flags. I think he did pretty much every flag you see dotted around the walls of the stands, plus one off banners for individuals and those massive flags that used to be waved behind the goal when the teams came out or when a goal was scored - would like us to retrieve those actual flags if we can avoid expense of getting the same things done again but I wouldn't know who owns them or whether they are still in existence perhaps in someone's spare bedroom or garage?' Think the Junior Blues (or certainly one prominent young JB by the name of Matthew) had something to do with them but I could be wrong.

It's great buying flags, banners or whatever but ultimately the atmosphere will only improve through greater numbers on the terrace. You only have to look behind the goal to see the club is currently failing to attract the type of supporter who used to populate this area, whilst it's always been one of the busier areas of the ground it's now one of sparsest. Without knocking those attempting to make an atmosphere, it's quite a sorry sight to see ten lads trying in vain to create some sort of atmosphere.
The lack of supporters in this part of the ground has a wider effect in that the atmosphere in my view does have an effect on our crowds. It's a pretty boring experience at the Deva these days which makes it hard to encourage people to come watch us, and even harder to get them to come back. I know I wouldn't bother convincing any of my mates to come to a game, and I can't imagine many of those on freebies yesterday will be back in a hurry.
What the club does to rectify this I don't know but it's clearly an issue that needs addressing.

It's simple. If you stand in the Harry Mac, chant. Sing along. I see clubs like York who have over a thousand packed behind the goal and they're all singing. Once a few start singing, people around will take note and join in too.

Yesterday there can't have been more than a few hundred on ours, the wide open spaces mean that any noise generated from the lads in the middle isn't going to spread. People stood at the ends of the terrace probably can't hear any chanting, just a drum banging. We need a busy middle section of the terrace to generate atmosphere, traditionally this has always been where the younger supporters congregate. It's obvious from the huge gap behind the goal we are failing to attract the type of supporter who used to occupy this area.

We probably lost a generation (if not more) during the horrible seasons pre the 2010 reformation so we do need to work hard to get that level of support back. Success on the pitch is the easiest way to do that but that is on a slow build at the moment so we do need to get something going on the Harry Mac. It is a bit strange as when we are on our travels the singing and chanting are great.
It would be really good to find out from those who are good at leading the singing at away matches as to what the problem is at home. Also, perhaps we do need a 'team leader' for this group of fans to rally the support and the chanting as I think we do need to do our bit to lift the team at home. Any volunteers or nominations for this???
I was watching the match on TV in Cambridge yesterday and I honestly didn't hear any noise at all not even from the 600+ school kids but I guess that may have been down to BT and their sound balance for the commentary.
It is a worry but as we do know when we get consistency of success on the pitch then it is self correcting.

There's a group of lads who hire and minibus and go to all away games (very vocal, always chanting). Literally none of them bother with home games. It's crossed my mind and we may have to ask them if they're up for coming to home games to improve the atmosphere.
