Just following up on what was discussed at the meeting last Thursday night.
One of our directors, Dave O'Toole spoke to talk about the Bignots Budget Squad Builder and said that they had some really exciting initiatives to be launched "soon". Wouldn't divulge on what those initiatives were (I think personally they're like 'experience' days).
Can anyone involved at the club comment on when we expect to see this launched? Is it stuck in that bloody pipeline again?

Will it be a Conference North promotion squad-builder?

It will probably an opportunity to play left wing for a few minutes at the end of a game.

Perhaps it will be an opportunity to be there when they reveal where the last lot of money went!! Wasn't it around £20k that was raised? It was a good amount, but there was a bit spent on getting the stock in for the stuff promised (i.e. the pint glasses), then another chunk went on paying the hosting website's fees (a few grand again), so that's quite a bit knocked off the total amount already. Burr then signed thousands of players on loan (as opposed to the probably one player he might have been able to get in) and put them all on the left wing. So the money went - on the squad as promised - but it was ineffective. This was all explained at the last AGM, where they explained the accounts in detail.

I know the last crowdfunder had a lot of critics but I personally thought it was a great idea and one we should at least try again.
My partner got me the 'train with the 1st team' deal and it's still one of the best things I've ever done. As a life long fan it's an experience I'll never forget and I'd implore any Chester fan to do it if the opportunity came up.
I also got the sponsor the bootlaces deal for my lad, who used to be a regular but was losing interest in football at the time, the deal included meeting the first team at training. My daughter tagged along and wanted pics with the players (because all the other kids were, even though she had no clue who they were) and she became hooked. She's now a season ticket holder and regularly goes to games, she loves it.
The whole crowdfunder/squad builder iniative could be a success. There needs to be less of a reliance on offering physical items (stuff that'll cost the club money), so 'experience' type offers is the way to go.
The club should look in to doing a legends type 'evening with'. The club has the facilities. It's something I see a lot of clubs at our level doing regularly.

I’d pay money for a legends night. Kevin rapley would be my choice. Rapture with Rapley. I’d also like to see Craig Dove and Luke diMech if possible too. 2 of my all time favourites.

re legends night i suggested to our CEO that as both michael owen and ian rush live in or close to the city now they could do "an evening with" event they both have connections to the club so im sure they would be prepared to come along for little money to support the club.the event could include a meal and a comedian(no not one of the players) we have the legends lounger so could be done MM said he had met micheal owen on a couple of occasions and it was a good idea which he would explore more but of course nothing happened just the same as MM said he planned some other live events under the banner "CFC EVENTS" and yes you guessed it nothing happened if our CEO put these ideas in action we would make a great deal of money if managed properly but its all talk he goes to the board with these ideas to justify his salary but then gives excuses as to why they cant happen not very impressive we are missing out so much on revenue streams but no one at the club seems to care we just hear how cash strapped we are

I know a former board member was hopeful of setting up An Evening With... so hopefully we can do something soon.

On the last thread I did mention - we have a LL, we have a caterer, we've got the former players association to pick from. We have everything we need except the desire to do anything about it

Noticed Tranmere had a 'Christmas Signing Day' today in their club shop.
Imagine having a spare weekend and using it to bring players/fans closer together and making some money in the process (they were selling calenders which players would sign).
Can't help but feel as a 'community' club this is something we could and should be doing

Where within “community club” does it say we will have a board who are incompetent and will Make decisions to drag us down? And then be far from forthcoming with answers and explanations.

the CFC EVENTS idea was quoted to me by our CEO when i wrote to the fans@ email address suggesting an evening with idea. of course mcnally you have not heard anything about it at meetings because nothing has happened at all with the idea MM is just pulling these suggestions out of the sky to justify his salary it shows he is actively seeking fund raising ideas(but its not true its all talk on his behalf)

That money has gone somewhere and we are entitled to know the full truth.

Burr pissed it up the wall.

This is a key issue. You have a club and board who stand up and spend 3 hours at The Anchor pleading with supporters to get behind the club and recount how important it is to raise cash and recreate the community spirit. However, they seem to think that the only effort required is to tell MM to sort out as many sponsorship deals as possible and bang a Squad Builder loose change box on the wall next to the exit gate. Real meaningful effort seems to be too much and then what makes it worse is when other people come forward they are then turned away and their ideas ignored. That would be fine if the board had alternative ideas, but they don't. Or the ones referred to 'in the pipeline' never seem to see the light of day or are badly implemented.

Whilst we are on the subject of initiatives for raising money, I was a little surprised at the sparse offering currently available in the online store, particularly in the run up to Christmas. Although there is admittedly a good selection of woolly hats, why no scarves, coats or training gear etc etc ?. Whilst I'm fully aware of the home kit fiasco, can anyone explain why on the face of it, opportunities for sales of merchandise are not being maximised ?

The evening with Mickey Thomas and Joey Jones was organised months ago. The night went brilliantly. Sold out Centenary club (220 folk) coughed up £20 each and god knows how much in the auction and raffle. Well organised night, well attended and a big success. Plans are in place for another night in the new year. Another popular night that raises £1000s are the “Curry with” evenings where a local Indian Reataurant, usually the Anise, hosts a night with club staff, the last one was Dean Keates, and all profits go back to the club.

They've got until February to sort their shit out or its time to call an EGM Yes, they are starting to test my patience. You do get the feeling at times that they wait for people to start moaning on here before doing anything at all, and by then it's too late. If an EGM is called though, it needs to be with a clear purpose and agenda. It can't just be an evening of whining and shoulder shrugging.
