Didn’t have long with kick off fast approaching but had a chat outside the blues bar and told him we are far too tame in our marketing and need to up our game significantly etc etc told him of a few ways we can do so, he explained he wants people with different skills and qualities to come together to help with the marketing of the club, games and so on Or, instead, he could do what he promised in his manifesto and was elected to do on our behalf, rather than try and get you to do it for him. This is exactly why people come out with comments like "they just want to look good in the club tie and swan around the LL feeling important." Didn't MM disband the fundraising committee by the way? Seem to recall at the time he said we should be making it more professional and concentrate on big commercial partnerships instead.

The fundraising committee no longer exists because most of its members walked away because they didn't feel they had any support from the board and were never allowed to speculate in order to accumulate. I don't think it had anything to do with Mark Maguire to be fair.

Mr O Toole has spent December in Rosies so hasn't yet had time to finalise the plan. It's in the pipeline, don't worry!

Middle management speak - sound like they know everything, use a lot of acronyms and management talk yet know absolutely eff all about execution.

People think there's not enough business acumen in the board at the moment. I think there's possibly too much. We're not a chamber of commerce, we're a football club. What I don't see enough of is genuine understanding of the football club and it's role in the community. And businesspeople, by their nature, tend to be very busy, making it hard for them to put any real time into the club. Anyway, the squad builder initiative is exciting in a way - excitingly mysterious!

I know the last crowdfunder had a lot of critics but I personally thought it was a great idea and one we should at least try again. My partner got me the 'train with the 1st team' deal and it's still one of the best things I've ever done. As a life long fan it's an experience I'll never forget and I'd implore any Chester fan to do it if the opportunity came up. I also got the sponsor the bootlaces deal for my lad, who used to be a regular but was losing interest in football at the time, the deal included meeting the first team at training. My daughter tagged along and wanted pics with the players (because all the other kids were, even though she had no clue who they were) and she became hooked. She's now a season ticket holder and regularly goes to games, she loves it. The whole crowdfunder/squad builder iniative could be a success. There needs to be less of a reliance on offering physical items (stuff that'll cost the club money), so 'experience' type offers is the way to go. The club should look in to doing a legends type 'evening with'. The club has the facilities. It's something I see a lot of clubs at our level doing regularly. 👀

Had Rodney Marsh, Nobby Stiles, Peter Barnes, Joe Corrigan among others over and always made thousands for the kids, plus the club used to make a fortune on the bar. Hasn't been one since. Yes they are hard work arranging, selling tickets and getting decent auction prizes, but they were great nights. If only we had a fundraising committee eh?

Attended some of those and they were indeed excellent both if you attended and for helping fund the youth teams.

Jim Green has said that there is going to be an ‘Audience With...’ evening launched very soon. Sounds promising.

An audience with Whopper 3? Here's how the evening goes...everyone rocks up, Whopper 3 says sack Maguire and Bignot. Everyone goes home. A good night had by all.
