Have to agree that initiatives from the board to motivate the fan base to help the club "grow up" are either a figment of the elected members imagination or get so bogged down in procedural or collective decisions making issues that they wither before bearing fruit. However what would we do if an EGM were called and the complete board resigned as a result? Are there enough willing volunteers with the necessary skills to make up a reconstituted board who could get along and do better? I'm not so sure.

If nothing more than to serve as a wakeup call to some of our so-called directors in order for them to finally get their fingers out. We'll just keep the pressure up on them at the monthly meetings with structured questions. I have a number of points raised at the last meeting that need to be asked at the next. Projected accounts for the season is one as MM wouldn't go into it at an informal meeting, plus again our marketing strategy, this database, fundraising initiatives etc. Still not seen/heard of anything more following Dave O'Toole mentioning this exciting initiatibe as part of the build Bignot's Budget fundraiser and not seen any plugging of it or our next home game on social media either by the media team yet..

I'm sure we can do a better job. It's not hard to organise a speaker, curry and a place to hold the event. There should be 5 things that are available for fundraising planned in the summer these should be rolled out every year. If I new each year I had the chance to go to an away game with the team. Here ex players talk. I could plan ,our fan base could plan. So I believe we can do a better job. For God's sake this cannot be as good as it gets.

Not about doing better, it's about doing SOMETHING.
We have a venue, caterer, former players association it's literally all there, on a plate.

No they didn't! They've been asked three times to my knowledge, and probably more, EXACTLY how much was raised and where it went. On every occasion, the information requested was not given. That money has gone somewhere and we are entitled to know the full truth. It was spent on the various loans and non contract players he brought in. None of those lads came for nowt. Burr pissed it up the wall. If that was true, the money could be accounted for. Nobody has said even how much money they collected, never mind who spent it and where! Something very strange here.

Perhaps it will be an opportunity to be there when they reveal where the last lot of money went!! Wasn't it around £20k that was raised? It was a good amount, but there was a bit spent on getting the stock in for the stuff promised (i.e. the pint glasses), then another chunk went on paying the hosting website's fees (a few grand again), so that's quite a bit knocked off the total amount already. Burr then signed thousands of players on loan (as opposed to the probably one player he might have been able to get in) and put them all on the left wing. So the money went - on the squad as promised - but it was ineffective. This was all explained at the last AGM, where they explained the accounts in detail. The gross amount raised was given in the CFU meeting of 7th September 2015 and the net amount in the following meeting of 5th October 2015. In that meeting Steve Burr mentioned what he would be spending the money on. This information is in the meeting minutes on the CFU site

If we can "do better" why were the existing board members all re-elected? Things have obviously stagnated but you need to be careful what you wish for, what if you call an EGM as a "wake up call" and all of the existing board members stand down? To me it doesn't look like there's 10 capable and willing individuals waiting in the wings to steer the club in a new direction.

You have a point to a degree, the current incumbents are there because no-one else is standing forward meaning they are getting away with doing very little with nothing to pressure them into doing otherwise. Offers of help are either ignored or flatly refused of late, I'm not saying its a closed shop - just a question as to whether your face fits and you'll toe the line.

Well another week has passed and I 've just been looking at the Chester FC on-line shop . The only thing which has changed is that it has now Sold out of Football Manager. Still no sign of any coats or training gear. (Apologies nwas, I didn't spot the single scarf design on offer ! ) This doesn't look great, particularly when ( for comparison purposes only) you see the range of merchandise displayed on the W*****m on-line shop. You would have thought that pushing merchandise from a well stocked shop at this time of year was a commercial no-brainer for a Club with limited income streams, and quite honestly it is difficult to disagree with the comment highlighted above.

The club are putting on a special offer tomorrow in the shop. Last season’s match-worn 3rd shirts (which we wore at Solihull) are going on sale for £20.

Was in club shop today and they had some smart looking hoodies come in, I do like the new line of casual wear with the simpler version of the club badge on it.
It did look very bare otherwise in there though. When the club ran the market stall a couple of seasons ago there was some good stuff on offer, particularly stocking filler type stuff.

Unfortunately this latest stuff is not available online . Also the ground is not in the most accessible location for many, and its not always ideal buying Christmas gifts etc on a matchday.

The hoodies looked like they'd just come in and were in process of being displayed so hopefully it gets put online soon.

Well I’ve just offered my help again for this... 🙏🏼 Just wondering whether your offer of help with these new initiatives was accepted or is someone still trying to work out what these initiatives are. We can’t even advertise matches adequately so I don’t hold out much hope for the introduction of exciting initiatives.

Almost two weeks later and nobody is any the wiser as to what this exciting initiative is.
Meanwhile, there's a thread on social media involving Roger Preece and Eddie Bishop reminiscing about the "good times" of 1990's Chester City with a suggestion that they'd meet up and share some stories - presumably privately but isn't this the sort of thing we could organise for the Blues Bar to host? Throw in a meal as well, sell tickets for 20 quid...
The Former Players Association could do this surely?

As for the exciting squad builder initiative. I think it's gone the way of the new stand development with the subway attached, signing Jon Parkin, Andy Keogh and Dave Nugent..

Didn’t have long with kick off fast approaching but had a chat outside the blues bar and told him we are far too tame in our marketing and need to up our game significantly etc etc told him of a few ways we can do so, he explained he wants people with different skills and qualities to come together to help with the marketing of the club, games and so on

Need this bloke out of our club asap, can anyone point to anything hes done for the club during his time on the board? We need someone with a business background/job to run this club, not a phony marketeer. No slight on you DMcNally, well done for putting yourself forward, its just we shouldn't be in position like this!
