Live statement from the PM at 10pm, apparently Waste of time that was. There were rumours she might be either standing down or calling an election. Saw someone on Twitter yesterday saying Theresa May is like that annoying person in work who insists on arranging meetings and conference calls for something that could’ve been said in an email in 30 seconds.

Party leaders coming out of their respective meetings with the PM/Government and the general jist is that..
She won't compromise on any aspect.
Corbyn was right for calling it the stunt it is.

I’m hearing that in these face to face meetings with senior MPs our Prime Minister just reads out statements from a prepared script, with zero engagement. No wonder the country is heading for disaster with that freak in charge.

It would be beneficial if Labour, finally, stated quite what their alternative plan would be. May's approach continues to be divisive so we need leadership from the opposition now more than ever.
Additionally, if Corbyn is going to call for general elections he should probably make it clear whether he'd be for Brexit or against it. His continued ambiguity is as damaging as May's incompetence. Now isn't the time for party games but it's all Corbyn seems to know.

Hang on, are people actually banging that drum still asking what his stance is?
I've heard him say repeatedly that he'd honour the result of the referendum. But it needs to be an exit that protects jobs, workers rights and environmental protections. Their '3 Pillars'. They've also said they want access to the single market as well. Basically from what I have heard, and what I've read up on, it sounds very much like the 'Norway' option, which I would be in favour of (despite being a remain voter).
No option is perfect, but it's about trying to find the best compromise possible. Unfortunately the person who has led the negotiations for the past 2 and a half years is incapable of compromise, even yesterday (despite the guff about her in the press wanting to talk) she openly refused to budge on her deal or removing the infamous 'red lines' as per the representatives from the SNP, Greens, Labour, etc.
In my opinion Corbyn (and all other parties in the house) is quite right to demand she drop the threat of 'no deal'.

Corbyn is a critic of the EU, that’s not the same as being a leaver. A common misconception of Remainers is that they all think the EU is great. If the vote had been an EU-wide referendum on whether to dissolve the EU completely, I might well have supported that. When I don’t think is sensible is to cut ourselves off from a huge European trading block that still exists, especially when we don’t have too many industries of our own on the scale of, for example, oil in Norway and finance in Switzerland.

Exactly right. In her Lancaster House speech . 'A Citizen of the world is a citizen of nowhere'. She formulated her 'red lines, which she still sticks to, dispite humiliation after humiliation. She is incapable of compremise. A more asute leader may have recognised that the country is split 50/50 and tried to formulate a Norway style conpremise. Leave the EU, but not seriously damage the economy in the process. Now May is effectively side lined, this is what Parliament may work towards. Its either that or a second referendum and remainp; as there is little chance of getting a no deal exit through the commons. In all of this May's priority has been to try to keep the Tories together, by throwing red meat to the Tory right. For which no Brexit would ever be hard enough. Rolling back red tape means, rolling back health and safety, employment regulations, lowering of food standards and creating a low tax, low regulation Singapoor on Thames (wgixh is not exactly what Stoke and Sunderland voted for).Artucle 50 needs to be extended, to sort this sorry mess out. However, the divisions created by this will take a generation to heal and the United Kingdom, may not see out the next 20 years, unless there is a move toward a federal solution , tied to the formulation of a written constitution and PR.

To be fair even if he did have a ‘Lib Dem phase’ the political landscape is now totally different. In the late ‘00s, the Lib Dems were a left-leaning alternative to Labour for those sick of New Labour and opposed to the Iraq War. Now I’m not sure what they’re supposed to be.

Showed his faith in Brexit Britain by clearing off to Singapore. Also, Tim Martin has stopped selling a wide range of European wines and beers, at his Wetherspoons branches, except most of his clientele, will be too drunk by 10am, in the morning to notice.

Vaguely on the subject of Brexit and its supporters, I noticed that the NewsGuard plug-in used on Microsoft’s latest browser has said the Daily Mail is not a credible news source. www.theguardian.com/media/2019/jan/23/dont-trust-daily-mail-website-microsoft-browser-warns-usersRatings are assessed by trained journalists, and this ranking puts it in the same bracket as the likes of InfoWars and the Russian state-owned Sputnik. Yet this is the UK’s second biggest newspaper and the Mail Online is the 8th most visited news site in the world! Time we had a serious look at journalistic standards in this country.
