Afraid it's hard to feel surprised. That will be a 3 game ban now. Well that depends. Blues Live didn't think it was a red, so it will come down to whatever video evidence is available and which the club will look at closely if there is any doubt - if that shows it shouldn't have been a red then it's a straightforward FA appeal, although the problem then may be how long that takes as at our level we are back of the FA queue...

I can't believe anybody, Bignot included, thought we'd actually have a chance of winning this competition. This squad of players are nowhere near good enough to put together the sort of run we're going to need to stay up as well as winning knockout games of football.
If it wasn't for the loss of 7K, I'd actually be glad to be out of it. We don't need distractions.
As for the actual performance/result today, I'm just not surprised. Sad to say, but I think we all saw that coming.

Get down the wadge and cheer your mate up. He might give you his shirt seems he won't be needing it again 😀 Sorry old pal but don't know him, think you've got me mixed up with someone else. just got a slightly better understanding of football than your good self. yes, you're right and I'm wrong. Enjoy your evening old pal.

Full time 30 seconds ago and already more pages than the Fylde thread. Welcome back moaners ! To be fair, we've just been dicked again by an average team from the league below. That is something to moan about. Add to that a player who a percentage of us didn't want got himself sent off! More talking about the fact these lot moaning have been silent the past couple of weeks. Only posting when there’s something to moan about.

Another dire cup/trophy performance. Usually wouldn’t be bothered about this competition, but that £7k could have been the difference between staying up.Can we just fast forward to the end of the season and be done with it. Massive games vs Gateshead & Hartlepool coming up. Although no doubt Gateshead will be on a high after coming back from 2-0 down in the last 10 mins to beat Boreham 3-2 in the Trophy today. I’ve read some excuses before. I hope you don’t actually believe this.

It's a dreadful result, but there's just no point dwelling on it.
All eyes onto Gateshead, that really is a big game and we need positivity going into it.

What a predictable result we can't get any momentum and outclassed by the Thurrock and their massive budget- we literally are rudderless clueless punchless and fucking shite

Think it's just human nature. We really should be going there and getting a result and it just feels an extra kick in the nads when the disaster waiting to happen gets himself sent off after 10 minutes. It might well have been a harsh sending off. We might have missed a sack full in the second half bu you just can't make this stuff up. This football club is on its knees at the moment. Both financially and morally.

I'd say it's infinitesimally unlikely that any appeal will be successful. Unless it's an obvious refereeing error (which it didn't sound like), the FA will side with the ref.

My big concern is what this result will do to our already fragile confidence ahead of two crucial games.
There can only be so many times or ways for MB to pick the players up before it stops working

Let's be honest that was shocking. From listening we didn't deserve anything from the game.
Gary will be kicking himself tonight, that might be his chance gone but it'll be both his loss and the club's. As Bignot said post match he shouldn't be this level as per his passes to Hannah that no one else would have seen. Whether it was a red or not is not the point he shouldn't of put himself in that position to even debate it.
We're absolutely terrible.

Been made a scapegoat there Gary could understand if Chester were winning 2-1 and goat beat 3-2 after he was sent off but fact is they were 1-0 down and playing shite again . Too many people want to see someone make a mistake rather than get behind people waiting for a mistake like vultures .

Surely it won’t be the only time we’ll see Roberts in a Chester shirt. Short term deal but not that short? End of the season at least.

Just thinking about the previous results away at teams we were not really expecting to get anything from. then we get a performance like this.is it in thier head or did we get lucky in the other two .to be honest we find it easier to put in a bad peformance rather than a good one .unfortunately we dont have any answers to teams that attack us from the start .just sit deep and try and weather the storm .we always seem asleep at kick off time perhaps we really are just a poor team

I'm not distraught to be out of the competition, although the prize money and dreams of Wembley are always nice. What was disappointing listening to the commentary was that it all sounded very sloppy and lethargic. I kept hearing phrases like "poor ball", "free header" and "took too long on the ball". Shortly after going behind, we even gave away a foul throw for crying out loud. If you go to a lower division team who are up for a scalp, the least you have to be is professional. This team have shown in recent weeks that they have some mettle about them, but Jesus, they're not half capable of stinking the place out at times!
East Thurrock will see it as a scalp, sadly for us it feels a bit predictable.

Disgusting. We got what we deserved really. No players showed any fight at all. The performance really was gutless. I was saying to a few fans before the game that I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Kidderminster all over again, and we did for most parts of the game. Hardly any of the players looked like winners whatsoever. Also, the style of play was shocking too. All we did was play the ball long, and hardly played it on the floor. Fair play to East Thurrock though, they did put their bodies on the line and fully deserved the victory. It’s not the best of grounds but the village was lovely, and the locals were very friendly. I had a brief chat with their manager for 10 minutes and he was nice too. The tackle from Gary Roberts was nasty, though. He did win some of the ball but he sent their player flying. Gary was barely on for 5 minutes, then he lost his head. Today’s defeat really is embarrassing. For one, we’ve lost out on £7,000 and 2, the players didn’t put heart in at all. If their is a positive, then at least we focus on our very small chance of survival. I would say that we took about 150 down there today. A terrific number from our superb supporters who don’t deserve to be watching this. Where were the 300 from Blacon though??

Amazing, you can be sworn at and nothing, abuse fellow fans using abusive terms relating the disabled and nothing either.... but a thread about the talking point from the game quoting the CEO and it gets locked off. Deva Chat gold. Deva chat gold award goes to you and your cat statue obsession Why so quiet last 2 game's? Had no ammo to bitch about? I posted during / after last few games, even pointing out I had spent some time to work things through. Keep up ... The maths is doable but I fear the result today is a false dawn. Do some predictors and its going to be tight.

Just to highlight that quote for some of the people on here as another view on the tackle who want to defend poor old Gary. Head lost. Nasty.

Mods, delete my posts all you want.
The fact is that people like blue4eva have no interest in supporting the club. They only appear when we lose just to turn the screw and get reactions out of people. I won't be being quiet in future if he carries on. Same goes for the others who only come out the woodwork when we lose. Negative bollocks and you mods know it, so why do you allow it?

If he winds you up that much just ignore him. I don't agree with him, but are you seriously suggesting I ban him for being negative and posting when we lose?

I cannot understand why people are shocked angry or surprised by our poor performance in the cup again, it happens every year we just don’t turn up we must be the team all the other clubs want to draw.

I wasn't there today, but the result was very predictable. I don't go along with all this blaming Gary Roberts malarky, it seems we've simply returned to our 2017 form. Shame about his sending off, but there are other members of the team that have been sent off: Astles, Hannah, etc and they didn't get pilloried. Now is the time to hope that he serves his ban (or appeals) and goes again.

Thanks As I referenced it early, it is only fair to note the mods have taken action and the personal abuse from Oaks Blue has been moderated - as has the other fan that used as horrific term to abuse fans referencing a disability.

Far more than a very small chance of survival. Of all people, I don’t expect you to be so pessimistic. Nobody injured, and Roberts not yet match fit so would only make the bench anyway, so no damage done. Happy New Year, and all the best for 2018.
