We are a side that is crying out for width and some attacking threat, and yet Mahon has been limited to ten minutes here and there.
I know he gave the ball away for Guiseleys equaliser, but tell me how many times other players in that side do give the ball away week in week out?
He has been fit to play for ten weeks, yet cameos are all we get, meanwhile (as much as I like him) Akintunde keeps running into people, Turnbull is invisible and James is just dreadful.
Watch his time on the pitch at Thurrock on the video, he is the one player we have who can create something.
Get Mahon in the team, let him get his match fitness and hopefully give us some thing more than lumps up to Harry White and slow midfielders losing second balls.

Personally, I think it's been a long, long time since Mahon has shown any kind of form. He's a great lad and I'd love him to recapture his form but I fear that he's living off performances 2-3 years ago.
Still, you are right that he's about our only creative player.

Tend to agree with you on this NWAS. I have reservations about Mahon beyond his fitness - his crossing is poor for a start and he beats players in non-threatening areas of the pitch. But, as you say, he was a rare bright spark at ET and certainly gave us a lift when we were toiling. Whether he is better as an impact player, when defences are tiring I'm not sure but we're going to have to gamble at some stage and throw him in, especially at home. It's obvious we don't create enough or score enough goals. IMO it's time to give Dawson a rest, which would hopefully still allow us to have some solidity in midfield. We were awful in the middle on Saturday - Turnbull and Shaw made no impact whatsoever.

For me its down to not playing. He needs games for match fitness to be given the chance to prove one way or the other now he is fit? One thing is for certain, he is no worse than several regular starters.

Can't say anything else really - yes, reservations that he isn't the same player as he previously was but surely not playing games has an effect. He's one of the very few players we have (probably the only) who actually excites the support.

Probably my favourite player in the squad but got to trust Bignot on this one.

Agree, he will be an impact sub until he does something to warrant a start. Usually how it works for any player, let alone one who has cost us points rather than gaining us any.

He's exciting, i'll give you that, but he has his long-standing critics for lack of final product.

Give the MEAT ED some minutes. Wizard on the ball this lad.

One of the few players who can travel with the ball, get us up the pitch, and beat a man. No brainer to get him involved.

Nothing like a spell out of the team to make people think you’re a world beater

Think he's nowhere near as good as he was 2 seasons ago unfortunately, but he seems the only one that Bignot hasn't given a start to.
It's worth a gamble because it's not as if we have anything to lose is it?

Sorry, done nothing for me the last 2 seasons. As well as the fault at Guiseley was also responsible IMO for the loose ball that led to GRs sending off at ET. In the words of many on here, our biggest wage thief!

Clearly Mahon won’t last a full game these days, so the question is do we start him in the hope that we get off to good start or bring him in on as sub in the hope he can make an impact?
He’s not been able to impact games as much as he used to, but I would start Mahon tomorrow and bench Alintunde who won’t perform unless we are live on TV!

Him and Mahon are two of the very few in this squad who can carry the ball forward.

Get him in the team until he gets another bruised little toe. That must have been a very serious bruised toe to stop him from being able to drive.

Our entire attacking plan was to clip the ball behind their defence and for Aki to chase it down. Can't see anyone else being able to do that. Unless we change tactics at home, don't see how we can do that without him.

Was hearing this from a SPort fan last week, he believed it was genuine. Our mate Macca, I'm guessing!

I’d have thought that losing our two fans favourites and longest serving players won’t help our cause.

Perhaps a case of Craig would like to go to get starts. Also probably a move to Southport would be a better fit with his other commitments. Sadly for me he hasn't done enough often enough for a long time, although to be fair he hasn't been given the opportunity recently.

Mahon was superb before Christmas last season, his most consistent run in the team and it showed. I remember the Chronicle doing an article claiming him to be the best winger in the division at the time. Whilst it might have been a bit OTT, you could see where they were coming from. He was excellent.
When he plays 3 straight games, he's easily our best player. It's just such a shame that injuries have blighted him like they have. Get him started today!
