6-6. Two poor teams unable to defend with any degree of competence. All 6 goals from Shep, who should be in a shed and isn’t a dynamo!!!!!!
Seriously a draw surely but a score draw! 2-2 👍

The more I see at the stadium and the more i read on here shows that something is pretty rotten at the core of the club. A game against another club in crisis? Bring on the next nail in the coffin. Cannot see a win at all.
Bet it's bloody freezing as well.

I'm afraid all confidence has been sucked from me 0-2 with 1279 in attendance

Another game I will miss fortunately for work, 0-3 with a crowd of 1,650. I think Hartlepool will bring a decent amount.

Yay no Rio match thread. Poor crowd and a poor game. Could easily get nobbed 5-0 but also its the sort of backs to the wall game where we turn up. Hopefull Ron manager picks the right team and the right formation and tactics.

First change from Saturday would be giving Tom Crawford his first start of the season

2-1 win. Two poor teams with not a lot of dosh. League positions reflect that. I credit bignot with at least trying to bring new faces in. Some work, some don't but you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

I went to the Liverpool Under-23’s Vs Charlton match today (club didn’t even bother advertising about it 😞) but I will be quite surprised if Tuesday’s game goes ahead judging on today. I was pitchside, and as the game went on the weather got even worse. The pitch cut up badly in the middle, and both goalmouths were full of muddy puddles. If it continues to rain throughout tomorrow I can’t imagine Mike getting any machinery on the pitch to drain it out, as it would get worse. Our pitch has been amazing for us, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets postponed. However it was verti-drained a week ago (I think) so hopefully it will drain out in time for the game. I’m going to the match, but you have been warned in case it does get cancelled.

Thought I’d chance my luck and beat Rio to start a match thread Obviously after the disappointment of Gateshead match I can’t see there being much optimism but who is going to this one? And what are the chances of a positive result on paper? Massive 6 pointer this. I reckon if there’s a slight chance of survival then I reckon either Hartlepool or Barrow are the most likely of clubs of getting sucked into the bottom 4 Gonna start off saying we will get a scrappy 2-1 win with James Jones heading in late on from a set piece Thank you for starting the match thread TBV, about time I had a break lol. After Saturday’s abysmal display Hartlepool will be feeling confident. Saying that though, they’re on a bad run of form so I’ve probably contradicted myself there. It’s the sort of game which any team could win. We could win by scoring an early goal and parking the bus, or we could let Hartlepool come and attack us throughout the game (like we did to Gateshead). However, who knows? This is why I come and watch us every week, because no-one knows what to expect until you witness what happens at the match. Remember the 8-2 game Vs Aldershot nearly 3 years ago? There was little over 1,400 there that night (me included) who watched that unforgetable match. We just don’t know what will happen on Tuesday. The players’ confidence will be low after yesterday, the weather will be absolutely freezing and there will probably be a low crowd, but football is a funny old game as they say. Let’s just see how things pan out come 21:30. Come On City! Score: Chester FC (Jones) 1-2 Hartlepool United Attendance: 1,465 (172 Hartlepool United) COYB!

According to the form table, based on the last 10 games we are 18th with 10 points from 10 games.
Other teams stats are Maidenhead (10pts), Halifax (9), Torquay (9), Woking (6), Hartlepool (5), Maidstone (5), Guiseley (5).
I think Hartlepool and Woking are the teams in biggest danger of being dragged into the relegation battle. Solihull seem to be buying their way out of trouble.
However, if we did manage to win on Tuesday it could make things interesting.

The exasperating thing for me is that in the last month or so we have had some easier games on paper, but have a habit of giving the hopeless hope! Hartlepool fall into that category, so it wouldn't surprise me if they turned us over. That said, I'm going to be optimistic and go for a 1-0 with Astles nodding in an 85th minute corner in front of the Harry Mac.

As I've said before an I'll say it again this Chester team is the worst in 58 years of following the Blues.
As shit as Hartlepool are and because we can't defend, have no midfield and the strikers are woeful (all of them) can see nothing but a 0-3 tomorrow. I'll be there with my son, but sitting in the cold watching that is torture.

This is the team I want to see tomorrow night Bignot - stop pissing about with formations, play 4-4-2 and give us some width with Mahon and LRT on the wings as they can actually get forward and have some pace.
Hornby Halls --- Jones --- Astles --- Gough
Mahon --- Crawford --- James --- Rowe-Turner
White --- Akintunde
I genuinely think that starting XI is our only chance of getting a result, otherwise we can expect another miserable evening.

I wouldn't give Akintunde another minute in a Chester shirt. Can't understand how he escapes criticism so often. He offers nothing. He's frightened to death when trying to beat a man, has no physicality, no height and doesn't score goals. Even Craig Hobson was a far superior striker.

Hornby Halls --- Jones --- Astles --- Rowe-Turner Mahon --- Crawford --- Turnbull --- Murombedzi White --- Hannah/Archer
As bad as Rowe-Turner is, Gough was woeful on Saturday.
If neither Hannah or Archer are fit to be in the squad, then Turnbull and James in central midfield with Crawford just in front.
Didn't think Murombedzi got a fair chance on Saturday. Bignot bingo resulting in him playing central midfield, with Kingsley on the wing - baffling!
McCombe and Dawson to be nowhere near the bench, and Halls to play his final game for us to avoid reaching the 30 matches for the contract extension.

Bit bizarre to allow the LFC U23 game between our two home fixtures, and a terrible battering for the pitch. Shows how desperate we are for a few quid. Apart from when initially announced was this advertised at all? Young Rio mentions the pitch was in a right mess by the end of the game. Ah well, roll on tomorrow!

To be honest he should have been released in the summer. Likewise Dawson .. one of the worst players I've seen in a Chester shirt, yet there are those that think he's the dog's bollox. Someone said we played with 10 men on Saturday and I'll second that. Young Vassell went past him all afternoon like he wasn't there.

I think there was something on the Chronicle website when it got announced a couple of months ago, but from then on there was no advertisements whatsoever. Nothing on the website at all. Cleggy didn’t even promote it on the tannoy on Saturday. At the end of the day, only 150 people turned up. We may have gained some income, but our poor advertising probably cost another 100 or so spectators.

I feel like if we don't win tommorow we are 100% going down. This is a six pointer and we need to drag Hartlepool down into the relegation zone. Solid performance needed from everyone, absolutely no excuses now. Can we please get behind the lads rather than get at them, this is a time for unity and not divison.COYB
