I used to really dislike Shrewsbury Town (now only have respect for them in the way they punch above their weight and are well run) but would love to see the Phil Bolland last minute volley and the Matty Woods thunderbolt at Gay Meadow.

Matty Woods' thunderbolt at Shrewsbury was my first ever away game! Phil Bolland's goal led to amazing scenes in the home end. That was the game where Shrewsbury brought loads of fans. Great atmosphere. You'll find that on the DVD goals that NATV put together about 7 years ago. I think Nick Richardsons goal at Gay Meadow 99/00 has gone into the abyss sadly.

Would love to see the Graham Abel one from the halfway line again. Also a couple of Brian Croft FA Cup goals. One in the first round second replay where he scored the only goal of the three times we faced eachother. He had beaten the keeper and curled one in from the goal line. Also the one he scored at Moss Rose against Bournemouth was from almost the halfway line. Not even sure he meant it but the wind took it over everyone and into the back of the net.

It's easy to forget how much Shrewsbury used to annoy us. That Gary Peters muppet, what happened to him? He actually did a decent job there but has never managed since. It was like a rivalry created by two teams insisting they didn't care about each other. Vaughan didn't help things either - wasn't he said to have hit someone in the dressing room down there?

Gary Peters the manager or the poster on Deva Chat? 😉😉 Think Vaughan was reported to have had a punch up with Leo Fortune West from memory after the game we lost 3-1 at Gay Meadow. Shrewsbury did spice things up by signing Ben Davies, Drummond and Asamoah of course. With hindsight, who really could blame them for leaving?! Yes, Davies could have left in a slightly more classy way but the career he had after leaving Chester I doubt he has any regrets.

Plus we had the whole Ratcliffe going to Shrewsbury with his coaching team and the rivalry between him and the American clown. That Nick Richardson strike in the Argentina kit was outstanding, one of the few good days at gay meadow.

I might be going mad but is that the time Crofty scored direct from a corner? I remember leaning over the wall shouting "Score from this and I'll buy you a pint in Joe's tonight" Definitely remember settling the bet !

I found Mason's goal against Villa on the ITN Source website by chance a while back, the clip doesn't seem to work on some formats but here's the link. Mason's goalThanks for that . years since i have seen it . Not quite as i remembered it ,but a great goal for sure . shame i couldnt get any sound on the clip I was sure he was a lot further out and closer to the touch line - and the pitch looks a lot worse - memory must be going! Not sure I want to see his goal at Crewe now - recall it being a flying diving header from c 15 yards but probably a tap in on the line 😉
