Pack it in lads, this isn’t the place for a personal back and forth. Try moderating it a bit more firmly then!! You don't have to go overboard like DC1 but this is too lax!

Do people think there is now more room for optimism or is 1700 too low or too high ?

I think at this point 1700 is too high. Personally I think 1500 is more of a reasonable target. However if the team start well, and actually start winning games then I can see it creeping up to 1700 and beyond. One of the reasons for the recent downturn in crowds is that the football for the past 18 months has been diabolical. Let's be honest it's not been great for the entire 5 years we were in the National League. If you play well. and win and score goals, the floating supporters will be more likely to come down.

Given that the average gate in our record-breaking Conference North title winning season was down on that of our Evostik Premier title winning season I am conscious that the "play well and win games" mantra isn't all that, and I'll be using my position on the FEWG to try to increase community, membership and supporter engagement.

Ok, I wasn't aware of that stat, but I would still argue that the recent decline in gates is totally related to the garbage that McCarthy and then Bignot served up.
