Manager recruitment process will be aided by two experienced managers who have managed in the FL. One will sit on interview panel.

Dave Powell

Manager salary will be ‘competitive for the Conference North’, less than what Bignot was on. Only those who apply will be considered.

Problem with Ratcliffe is that he thinks all Premier League players and managers are better than Championship etc all the way down to North West Counties. That was what he thought when he managed us. It's football class divide. Doubt we'd get an up and coming young manager, if he's involved. Any new manager will come with a list of players he wants to bring in. If they don't, doubt they're the person for us at the moment.

Gary Caldwell is rumoured to have applied He applied for the Scotland manager's job recently so I can't see him being that desperate.

Gary Caldwell is rumoured to have applied Not rumoured, the local Chesterfield journalist, their Dave Powell basically, understands he has applied. He could be a decent shout but I'd need to know a bit more about what he's good at first.

Did Barrow work under him at Wigan and Chesterfield? be interesting if he did, maybe GB could be back in a capacity after all if Caldwell gets the job

Unless the club are hell bent on continuing the old rinse and repeat ethos that's served us so well since Neil Young was sacked, then maybe asking Ratcliffe back after being involved in the last car crash appointment, isn't the best idea. Is it too much too ask for this amount of emotional intelligence at board level? Neil Young wasn't sacked.

Only two years since Caldwell led Wigan to the League One title, although he's struggled since. Fair to assume though he had a significantly greater budget at Wigan than he would at Chester.
As for Davis, his reputation seems to have declined a bit lately but I recall him doing well at Nantwich and also at Crewe initially. Certainly wouldn't rule him out.

Whoever we take on it should only be a 12 month rolling contract

Wasn’t there so can’t say but I personally don’t want him after seeing the game at the deva and in my opinion if he wasn’t sacked would have probably relegated you

I think with what we can offer the new manager, both in wages and players budget it almost certainly rules out the likes of Caldwell, Davies and Sharpes. Given that the managers wages will be less than MB it looks likely that the manager will be from the likes of Heath, Reid, Holden, Macauley and Parkinson - with the latter two involving compensation payments it really does thin it down. Suppose it would make for interesting debate if we knew the full list of 60 or so genuine applications.

I See that Shaun Reid is the latest person to throw his hat into the ring sounds like he would manage the same way he used to play, I love the story about his first day at Warrington he took the players for training then he informed the owner that non of the players were good enough and they could all go😀.

The article in the Chronicle says someone whose team played in the African Nations Cup has applied. The only one I can think of is Bobby Williamson who is currently having cancer treatment. Cant think who else that could be

Who's the manager with Champions League experience then? Craig Harrison (managed TNS in Europe) - was sacked by Hartlepool earlier this season. Hope you take him as he is constantly linked with us.

Harrison might be a decent shout tbh.
Bit hard to judge him with Hartlepool tbh as they were a complete basket case when he took them on. Although did shoot himself in the foot signing Luke George lol

Suspect Harrison is in contention anyway but the article refers to someone who has managed in the Champions League group stage - something I don’t think any Welsh side has ever reached.
