I can’t wait for Jonno to get hold of Dawson 😂 Dawson turned down the contract offer from the club so very doubtful he will get hold of him Really? I never heard about that. When was that? Chuffed to hear it anyway. I’m buying a lottery ticket me, that’s the only way this week could get any better 😂

Hold on a minute. You're the first to pipe up if someone even remotely criticizes the club for anything even when desvered. Yet you can do the same, say what you did then when people pick you up on it you throw your toys out the pram. Brilliant!!! Luke90 I've just read your entire 6 post history on this site, you are in no position to criticise me I'm afraid. Donald trump has more elegance Not sure what my post count has to do with anything? Care to explain? You've been seen to do what you supposedly hate and have a vendetta against in attacking the club and been called out about it. Which side of my wall are you on.

I’d completely understand if one or both of them received a decent offer from a league club & left but another decent season playing first team football certainly wouldn’t do them any harm.

If they have a vast knowledge of North West then they will go for young, hungry types. Someone mentioned that a good proportion of Shrewsbury's promotion challenging squad have been plucked from non league. That's what we should be doing.

I know the young lads plus Dawson got offered a contract but has any of the other senior players been offered terms ?? surely a retained/release list must be on the cards

Hopefully the playing budget. I'm sure that will be one area that will be considered, but as mentioned before there are vital parts of the club's infrastructure that need looking at, and that can lead to extra funds in the future coming through the door, and as Stuart himself has said he wants to see £2 back into the club for every £1 spent. Look forward to getting this donation over the line and then we can really plan for the bright future for our club. Jeff I didn’t mean all of the donated money should go into the playing budget but some of it should if were to try and get out of the conf north at the first attempt, Stuart said himself the aim is to get promotion and with a budget of £250k can anyone really see us getting promoted on that?

Without the investment I’d of probably agreed with you, but surely we should be aiming for promotion at the first attempt? We consolidate and the crowds will be worse than last season.

Bernard and Jonno don't do consolidation.

Where we were in January was solely down to a useless and toothless board. They chose to retain Chester’s answer to the Kray twins (Surnames begin with M), and allowed them a free rein into the bargain.

So what just try not to get promoted and only sign players that will finish midtable? Or maybe we should try to not win games? Cant wait to see how many Season Tickets we sell with that plan......

The two aren't mutually exclusive...consolidation, as you put it, will inevitably mean lower crowds. The aim must surely be success on the pitch in the short term and building a proper infrastructure/ learning from past mistakes. It will be easier to do that if we have a successful product to sell to sponsors, floating fans etc. We've just seen 300 Blues travel to an away youth game...success breeds success, equals long term stability. I'd like to see us playing national football ASAP.

... will people think of the short term success over the long term stability of the club. Consolidation in terms of how much we put into the playing budget is one thing and I think most people agree that we do need to prioritise longer term infrastructure projects. That said, you cannot go into any campaign with such an unambitious target of simply staying up. It is definitely not unrealistic to expect a decent push for one of the play-off places and I'm glad the new management team have that as a clear goal.

[br Ok so how do you suggest the club goes about ensuring we dont get promoted while still expecting supporters to turn up? You happy to buy a Season Ticket knowing the Team are trying not to win enough games to possibly go up.

Let us just let them get on with the job with the budget they have been given, if more money becomes available without compromising off field ambitions so much the better. New management team with ambition operating in an honest but realistic way will do for me and let's see where it takes us.

If that turns out to mean consolidation, fine. If we can push on up the table, even better. Financial stability is key. If we'd been relegated through sticking to budget then many would have accepted that. Unfortunately last season there was no stability - they ended up blowing our budget, dipped dangerously in to our reserves without notifying anybody and still oversaw the club get relegated with weeks to go!!

Some people appear to be thinking if we try to win football matches, we are going to put everything into that at the expense of new plans to develop infrastructure, when it is simply not the case. We are suggesting a proper balance between the two. I truly HATE the C-word, and soooo happy to read that The Managers do too. And obviously the Board aswell.

In the space of a week, a lot of people seem to have gone from thinking we're in for successive relegations, to believing we're in for a swift return to the National League. In reality, I think both are overreactions. I've always thought we'll probably be midtable, and I still think that. With the investment and the new managers, I'm now a little more hopeful of an upper midtable finish than a lower midtable finish. If it's any better than that, great.
We must be patient, and show a bit of humility. I don't want to hear any of this "back where we belong" bollocks next season. In our five years in the Conference, we pretty much constantly struggled and did very little to suggest it was "where we belong". We need to realise that we're now in the Conference North, competing with several other big and ambitious clubs, and we have a big challenge ahead.
