One concern with this for me is the two-year deals. Can you put mine and others minds at rest and assure us there are clauses based on performance, which would make it easier, or cheaper, to get rid should things not go to plan? I cannot go into contracts at this point but I think it's safe to say that the club will be protecting itself wherever possible. No worries, cheers. Hopefully we’ve learnt our lesson this time.

I doubt there was a managerial appointment that existed that would have been universally popular with Chester fans, that's just football that you can't please everyone. But I'm genuinely excited by this appointment - these lads have a record of being winners, which is how they should be judged rather than a few documentaries that will only be showing the shouting stuff. I'm sure even Gentleman Jon raised his voice from time to time. You've got to love Chester FC, nobody saw this coming but somehow it's happened - there's never a dull moment! Should be a very interesting time ahead, and I just hope that with this appointment and some investment that we take this opportunity to get right behind the club and bring the good times back.

Pleased with this appointment and also the generally positive views expressed on here although, of course, "you can't please all of the people all of the time etc". And in this strange world of Twitbook (and parts of DC) you just know that a new frenzy will erupt when we drop a single point!
Personally, I ask for only two things in the forthcoming weeks and in the new season
1. Some improvement in terms of performance, attitude and, of course, results 2. We, as fans, give these guys at least a fighting chance by giving them some time and supporting through their initial spell.
A period of relative stability would be most welcome after the trials and tribulations of the last few months

Hopefully the playing budget. Hopefully not. Pumping it into the playing budget is unsustainable without having the infrastructure behind it to back up any increased spend first and foremost. A modest increase to the playing budget based on projected increased income from improved infrastructure would be OK. But cannot afford to go mad with it. We've got one chance to get this right now. Hopefully the playing budget will be included as part of a thoughtfully planned use of funds. SM himself has said getting out of NLN is a top priority. We need to win matches to get the crowds back. All as part of a long term plan with sustainabilty as the goal, but also at the highest level we can.

Welcome lads, massive job ahead just to make us competitive this coming season, they need to be left to get on with it with no interferrence. Regarding their salary, bet they are on big bonuses to get promotion but given the confidence this pair have, they must believe its achievable. Made up that we have avoided the incestious obsession of some to always bring back the past, managers and players, history shows that it very rarely works. Couldn't agree more!

Going back to part time structure by the looks of it Sounds like it. Makes the most sense if there's no extra funds going in to this seasons budget. I wonder where we'll be training this year?

The more I read about the new management team, the better the appointments seem. A sense of reality has finally hit home with not only the bulk of the fan base but also the board. This together with the hoped for additional funds give us a real chance to do what we should have done 5 or 6 years ago. Welcome Jonno and Bernard we are looking forward to the journey. Thanks and well done to the selection panel, not sure how you got to the right decision but you did and deserve credit. Really looking forward to the new season, trying to keep my expectations realistic!! Now let's do our bit, both in terms of numbers at games but also supporting fund raising initiatives, can't just say it will be OK Stuart will sort it.

Afternoon all. Can I just clarify something before it escalates... The donation from Stuart Murphy has not even come into the equation with the manager's position. Only when that donation is finalised will we then start to look at possibilities around where it could go towards. Jeff Hopefully the playing budget. Some people will never learn until the club is gone forever.....

Isn't it ironic that it's always the same people that call out an appointment as being 'terrible' and such without giving any real reason as to why they believe that. Kind of pathetic to be honest, it's only so they can come on DC and say 'look i told you so' if things go wrong but if things go well they have the easy copout of 'i'd love to be proven wrong or i'm glad they've proven me wrong' for example. Get behind the club for a change

And me neither. It might not suit everyone on here though, trying to win every game, eh?

I’d love to know what Whopper 3/Nigel Hopkins would make of this appointment. If Whopper 3 approves, that will do for me Seriously, we don't know whether the new managers are going to be a total disaster which could finish the club off or a version of the Cowley brothers. Let's hope it's the latter. What I do know is that their appointments have at least caused some excitement among fans which augurs well for season ticket sales, something which, with due respect, Bignot and Redfern would not have achieved. i would like to know the circumstances in which they were appointed I.e. Did they apply or did we approach them and who is Oswald and did he play some part in their appointments. Exciting times ahead.

'You can get big name players on big money, but if they are only here for the money its useless'. Sounds like goodbye to Hannah and James. Lol.

Noticed they mentioned a first team coach maybe lined up - Derek Egan was the first team coach at Salford and left at same time as they did.

Excellent little video on our new duo Why Salford Got Rid Of Jonno and Bernard via @youtube Didn't really clarify or confirm anything for me. The two don't really come across as being greedy to me. It could be said that they have earned the right for more money after their success? I personally think the Salford people wanted a different approach to national level and time will tell if that was the right thing to do. Graham Alexander is a good football man but I'd imagine he and his team will be on more money than the joint managers. But who knows.

Alexander will be on a lot more I reckon plus he's on a four year deal! How else would you entice a bloke managing at the higher reaches of League One to drop into the Conference, not just that but also to a club that has never been at that level before! They'll go for it next season
